While most try to come out with a simple and direct car club name in symbolizing themselves, these lot does not bother to do so. With a wide range of retro cars dating far back to the 60’s, they simply called themselves as the “Backwheels Bitches”, which upon the first time hearing it gives no clue whatsoever on what kind of car club this is.
But a simple glance on the car lineup instantly answers the curiosity as all of them, like the name suggests, are rear-wheeler retro cars which are getting harder to be spotted around the streets these days. The first generation Celica is often referred as the “Japanese Mustang” due to its similar styling cues of the famed American muscle car, and there were quite a number of them residing in BWB. Although the first gen could be dated back all the way to the 70’s, they must have been experts in the restoration scene as all of them are in an immaculate form from head to toe.
One could never go wrong with the simple combination of a yellow paint job with some racing stripes thrown in…
…or like this white + grey.
There were also some familiar faces that we have seen from Art of Speed like this army-green Hachiroku…
…and this citrus-bright Celica.
There were not many Datsun (there was only one actually) present on this small gathering, but the appearance of this nicely-kept 240Z was more than enough as it was a real crowd magnet. Produced in the early 70’s, this gleaming red Datsun shows no hint of aging after all these years and still has its own appeal in the eyes of today.
A couple of Deutschland-ers had also made it to this small concourse, building up the classic feel that surrounds this small parking lot in front of Pavilion.
Not being an expert in the yesteryear’s’ car lineup, here are a couple more cars that I have yet been able to identify. See any of those from the lot that you actually know of?
It is really fascinating to encounter some car clubs that are out of the ordinary, and the Backwheels Bitches really nails it with their spotless retro rides. For more information on these guys, check out their facebook page or visit their website at http://backwheelbitches.blogspot.com/.
