Proton’s first ever global car, the Prevé, has managed to rake up a total booking of 11,130 units in just in a span of two months, making it the number one choice for the 1.6-litre sedan in the market. Launched on 16 April 2012, the Prevé comes in three variants: the Premium with the 1.6 Charged Fuel Efficiency (CFE) engine mated with Proton’s own 7-speed ProTronic CVT, and two Executives with either the six-speed CVT or five-speed manual, both running on the 1.6-litre CamPro IAFM+ engine.

“With more than 10,000 Prevé booked to date, and with the numbers increasing every day, it has quickly established itself as the consumer’s preferred choice of compact sedan. This is a very positive sign for us and further proof that PROTON can engineer and manufacture world class products,” said Dato’ Sri Hj Mohd Khamil Jamil, the Executive Chairman of PROTON Holdings Berhad.

He also said that one month before the Prevé’s launch itself, almost 1,000 units were already booked by the excited customers, while another 4,893 bookings then followed in April. And it was not only the affordability of the vehicle that attracts the customers, but also through other factors like the styling, performance, safety and equipment level.
The Prevé goes on-the-road starting from RM72,990 for the Premium, RM62,990 for the Executive CVT and RM59,990 for the five-speed manual Executive, where they also come with a five-year or 150,000km warranty (whichever comes first).

I had a very disappointing test drive yesterday, 1.6 Premium CFE 7speed CVT model. The acceleration was sluggish comparing to my existing ride, Myvi 1.5 auto. I hardly doubt it can achieve 0-100km/h in 10sec, 6.6L/100km. It looks very convincing according to the spec, but the acceleration really pissed me off.. (I was a big fans of SGTi) 🙂

hmm another much hyped up proton model… i think bookings reached more than 10,000 units because of the price advantage over rivals…i have a persona & regret buying it as the petrol consumption is on high side a bit, the irritating campro “turbo lag” & some noises here & there like the aircon vent noise…of course on positive side the excellent road holding ,high speed stability, good high end power are there. I wanted to trade in my persona for the rebadged lancar@inspira but was taken by surprise at the price P.E offered to buy back my persona…i would have to fork out a large sum to settle my loan balance.
