Honda Malaysia is currently feeling rather happy about themselves, particularly because there are now more than 10,000 Honda Hybrid vehicles in Malaysia and there’s also more than a million Honda Hybrid owners globally ever since the Insight was first introduced in November 1999 in Japan.
However, the 10,000th Honda Hybrid in Malaysia didn’t just go to any, it went to our very own Hitz.FM radio announcer, Tengku Mohd Ean Nazrun (Ean) who recently purchased the hot-hatch – Honda CR-Z, to which he commented upon taking delivery of his new vehicle:
“I am excited and proud to know that I am among 10,000 Honda Hybrid owners in Malaysia contributing to a cleaner and greener Malaysia. I was attracted to the sporty looks of the CR-Z, which is combined with eco-friendliness. And the visit to the Honda dealer where I test-drove the car sealed the deal for me. This stylish CR-Z is easy to handle and has heaps of cool features which makes it really fun for everyday driving.”
For being the 10,000th Honda Hybrid owner in Malaysia, Ean has been rewarded with a 2D/1N getaway package as a token of appreciation to show Honda’s gratitude for the customer’s support.
Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd said, “Congratulations to Ean for being the 10,000th Honda Hybrid owner in Malaysia. Being the pioneer of hybrid technology in Malaysia with the launch of the Civic Hybrid in 2007, we are very pleased to see that hybrid vehicles have received positive response. Honda Malaysia is proud that Malaysians are part of the global movement of one million Honda Hybrid owners who are enjoying the freedom of mobility while contributing towards a greener earth. It is our vision that Honda, together with our customers can help build a sustainable society where people can enjoy life, now and in the future.”
“Honda has introduced a total of 4 exciting new models; the Insight, Jazz Hybrid, CR-Z and Civic Hybrid in the Honda Hybrid Family to Malaysians who appreciate the value of advanced green technology. With the launch of the Insight at the end of 2010, Honda has successfully captured 54.4% of the hybrid market share in 2011 and it has increased to 66% as at August 2012. We would like to extend our appreciation to the Malaysian government for the full exemption of its import and excise duty for hybrid models until December 2013. Honda Malaysia has led the hybrid market and will continue to lead it by introducing more hybrid models for Malaysians. Now with our broad line-up of hybrid models to cater to the diverse needs of customers, we are constantly striving to deliver products equipped with advanced green technology which offer advanced performance, better fuel economy, affordability and a fun-to-drive element for our customers,” Mr. Ueno added.
The good acceptance of hybrid vehicles in Malaysia became the catalyst for Honda Malaysia to be the first car manufacturer to assemble hybrid vehicles locally. This is also in line with Honda Motor’s direction of providing good products with speed, affordability and low CO2 emissions to maximise the joy of ownership to customers. In conjunction with Honda’s global direction, Honda Malaysia is committed to reduce carbon emissions significantly.
