Porsche 997 Turbo On Straight Pipes

The Porsche 997 Turbo sounds good when it gets into stride, but at idle, you hardly hear it. Here’s a 997 Turbo with a very different character, it has been worked on by American tuner, Vivid Racing. Dubbed Project 997, the guys from Vivid have been working on it  for a while now and recently started a new intake plenum project.

Prior to that they put to test a unit that just resulted in a drop of significant amounts of power at the top end. And with the GT3076rs turbos, more air needs to be fed rather than just a flow pattern change. So Vivid developed a high flow intake plenum that works with the larger Cayenne TT throttle body.

In addition to the plenum upgrade, and to gain maximum power, Vivid fitted straight pipes which are shown in the video above, it essentially deletes the cats and muffler. The pipes come right off the turbo for a non restrictive race use only function. This gives the Turbo the meaner character it deserves, listen to the pipes and the turbo spool and you’ll know what I mean.  Check out Agency Power for more information on the pipes.
