AAM-KKS AutoCross Series 2008 – Supplementary Regulations

1. EVENT TYPE

This is a three round series.

The competition begins from a standing start and navigating a marked out course without going off the course and/or knocking over markers. Cars will be individually timed with the timer starting when crossing the start beam and stopping when the front tyre of the car crosses the finish beam.

4. AUTHORITY

The event will be held under the International Sporting Code of the F.I.A, the National Competition Rules (NCR) of the A.A.M. together with these Supplementary Regulations and any Additional Supplementary Regulations that may be issued by the Organisers.

9. ELIGIBLE ENTRIES

9.1 All competitors must be members of Kelab Kart Selangor & W. Persekutuan.

Attached please find a membership application form. Day membership will be RM 5.00

9.2 Entries will not be accepted from existing or past holders of National or International grade Competiton licences and above.

9.3 Entries are to be submitted by mail by the entrant/driver to:

9.4 Entry for a car allows one entry in its class only. Two drivers may share a car but each must submit separate entry. Points scored in a class cannot be transferred to another class if the vehicle is changed to another class. Cars may be changed during the series but in order to accumulate points the replacement must be in the same class.

9.5 All entries open 30 days before the event and close 7 days before the event.

Fees per entry shall be RM 50.00 in Cash. No cheques will be accepted.

9.6 Payment of the entry fee is to reach the Secretary of the Meeting by the closing date for each round. Late entries will only be accepted at the discretion of the Organisers and may be charged double the entry fee.

9.7 The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entries without assigning any reason. If an entry is so refused Entry Fee shall be returned in full.

10. COMPETITION LICENCE

As this is a Club event, there is no requirement for a Competition Licence. However, all competitors need to produce their current Driving Licences.

NOTE: ALL MEMBERSHIP CARDS AND DRIVING LICENCES ARE TO BE HANDED IN TO THE SECRETARY OF THE MEETING IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCRUTINEERING FOR SAFE KEEPING.

11. POSTPONEMENT & ABANDONMENT

The Organisers reserve the right to postpone or abandon or alter the event if insufficient entries are received by close of entries.

12. WITHDRAWALS

Entries withdrawn prior to close of entries for each round may be eligible for a full refund.

13. PARENTAL CONSENT

If any entrant or driver is under 18 years of age, the consent and signature of his/her parent or legal guardian must appear on the Entry Form.

14. INSURANCE

Only Public liability insurance will be arranged by the Organisers.

15. JUDGES OF FACT

All appointed Test Officials and Observers are Judges of Fact in respect to Timing, Penalties and Lines.

16. EVENT CONDITIONS

16.1 Aggressive driving, prolonged wheel spin or any abuse of the venue will lead to the exclusion from the event.

16.2 Burnouts and tyre warming are not permitted. At the discretion of Clerk of the Course, any transgressions will result in immediate exclusion from the event.

16.3 The event is designed to test the acceleration, braking and the general maneuverability of the vehicle together with skill and judgement of the driver.

16.4 Up to 4 Tests are to be completed. Drivers will be given one practice run for each test. Each driver will attempt each test twice. All competitors will have the same number of runs except in the case of re-runs. Re-runs will only be given for timer system failure or if a competitor’s run is stopped, slowed or otherwise impaired through no fault of his /her own (excluding mechanical problems).

16.5 Drivers are reminded that special care needs to be taken while entering and exiting the competition areas. A speed limit of 10 km/h shall apply!

16.6 Start Numbers will be issued at registration on the day of the event.

16.7 Competitors are required to run in numerical order unless otherwise permitted by the Clerk of the Course.

16.8 It is the competitor’s responsibility to be ready to start each test when his/her number is up. Failure to do so will result in loss of the run.

16.9 Participants must be on site at least 30 minutes before the start of the first test to allow for moving of cars in and out of venue.

16.10 Reversing is not permitted once a vehicle has started.

18. SCRUTINEERING

18.1 All vehicles shall be scrutineered before the start of the event and must pass all points listed on the Scrutineering Checklist.

18.2 There must be a minimum tread depth of 3mm measured in the centre of the tread area of the tyre at any time during the competition. No slicks or competition tyres are permitted. Tyres used must carry the relevant markings to indicate that they are for highway use. Any tyre without markings will be considered to be for off-road or competition use and will not be permitted to be used.

18.3 Any vehicle leaking any fluids, in particular fuel or oil may be excluded from the event until acceptable repairs are completed.

18.4 If a vehicle has broken down, another vehicle may used, however it must be used for the remainder of the event and the entrant and the vehicle must comply with all the conditions contained within this document.

19. CLASSES

Class 1 Below 850 c.c.

Class 2 851 c.c. to 1,000 c.c.

Class 3 1,001 c.c. to 1,300 c.c.

Class 4 1,301 c.c. to 1,600 c.c.

Class 5 1,601 c.c. to 1,800 c.c.

Class 6 1,801 c.c. to 2,000 c.c.

Class 7 Sports cars

Class 8 Open (This class includes open wheelers and specials but not karts)

All engines fitted with superchargers or turbochargers will have the engine capacity multiplied by 1.7 for petrol engines and 1.5 for diesel engines and the vehicle will then be placed in the appropriate class.

20. DRIVERS

20.1 Directions and requests by any official must be obeyed.

20.2 Drivers must behave in a safe and responsible manner. A speed limit of 10 km/h shall apply in the pit area and when proceeding to and from the test. Failure by any driver to respect this limit may lead to exclusion from the event.

20.3 The onus of responsibility for the conduct of crew will at all times be on the Entrant / Driver. Any misbehaviour on the part of the crew will not be tolerated and the driver will be liable to exclusion from the event for any breach of these regulations or refusal to obey instructions from officials of the meet. No crew are permitted on the test area at any time without the express permission of the Clerk of the Course. Once the test has commenced, all crew must return to the Pits or Paddock. Smoking in the Pits is forbidden. The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry for any member of a Pit Crew into the circuit, Pits and Paddock and all areas under its jurisdiction without assigning a reason. Failure to comply with such a request will render the driver liable to exclusion from the event.

The drinking of any alcoholic beverages or intoxication by any other means (e.g narcotics) is absolutely forbidden and any driver or crew found guilty of such an offence will incur the immediate exclusion of the driver from the competition and removal from the track.

20.4 Drivers shall wear non-flammable clothing. Shoes that cover all toes must be worn. No sandals or slippers are permitted nor drivers permitted to drive with bare feet. Full length trousers must be worn.

20.5 Approved seatbelts or harnesses are to be worn at all times while driving. Drivers of cars shall wear helmets which must be in good condition and comply with either of the following: SNELL 90, 95, K98, 2000, or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A.

20.6 Drivers of vehicles to which no windscreen is fitted shall wear adequate eye protection while competing.

20.7 While competing, Drivers shall adjust car windows either fully up or down. Windows not supported by any door frame need to be fully down.

20.8 No radio communication of any form is allowed between crew and drivers and any headsets or earphones must be removed before the start of a run.

21. EVENT LAYOUT
21.1 Test markers will be traffic cones of varying size.

21.2 Garages will be clearly marked.

22. START AND FINISH
Starting order will be determined by class order. Cars may be started at 30 second intervals.
The starting signal will be by a green flag or lights.

23. METHOD OF TIMING
The method of timing will be electronic to 1/1000 sec.

24. TIMING & SCORING

24.1 The “Down and Out” rule shall apply to pylon penalties. That is, if a pylon is not left standing in a vertical position (down) or is totally displaced outside its marked location or box (out).

24.2 A five (5) second penalty shall be assessed for course (not pointer) pylons and ten (10) seconds for start/stop box pylons. These penalties will be assessed against the competitor by adding penalty seconds to the elapsed time.

24.3 A car going off course will not be assessed a time, rather will be scored “DNF” for that run, unless it returns to the course at the point of departure.

24.4 A vehicle that fails to come to a complete stop shall be scored “DNF” for that run.

24.5 For the purpose of scoring, any vehicle that does not complete a run (DNF) or start a run (DNS) will score the total cumulative points (time plus penalties) of the highest scoring competitor in that class, plus

5. Example: If the highest scoring competitor’s run is 65 seconds and the vehicle hits 3 pylons (15 points), the DNF competitor’s score will be 65+15+5 = 85

25. DETERMINATION OF WINNERS

25.1 The best time of each test for each competitor will be used for scoring i.e. if a competitor records 2 times for Test A, and 2 times for Test B, only the best time from Test A and B will be used for the purpose of scoring.

25.2 The winner in each class will be the one who has the lowest cumulative time of all the best times chosen from all the tests done. Second place will the next lowest points and so forth.

Ties shall be settled on the basis of the second run for each of the tied drivers.

25.3 Cumulative time will be based on the best recorded times of each completed test by all classes

(c) The Organisers reserve the right to increase the awards in any or all categories. If there are less than 6 entries in a class, only three trophies will be awarded.

27. PROTESTS/APPEALS

Any protest must be made in accordance with the NCR G5 and shall be addressed to the Clerk of the Course for immediate transmission to the Stewards of the Meeting.

Protest Fee RM 500.00

Protest Against Eligibility RM 500.00 plus RM 500.00 deposit for dismantling

Appeal Fee RM 2,500.00 plus deposit of RM 500.00 for dismantling

All fees shall be in cash (Ringgit Malaysia)

28. ADVERTISING

Advertising is permitted on cars and driver’s apparel including helmets, overalls and jackets, provided that the placing of such advertisements in no way obscures or affects the legibility of competition numbers. The Organisers reserve the right to remove or obliterate any advertisement that they consider in bad taste or conflicts with any of the race sponsors. The Organisers will indicate the positioning of sponsors decals and these decals shall not be placed anywhere else. If this space is not made available, the Organisers reserve the right to remove or obliterate any existing decals in order to attach the decals of the meet sponsors.
