I am a bit sick of special edition SLRs really, there seems to be an endless streak of special editions lately. We all know that the SLR is about to phased out and the upcoming speedster is the last of the SLRs, but all the special edition models seems as if the SLR is one model that just refuses to die, something like a villain in a James Bond movie who gets shot by an entire army regiment, blown-up, torched, nuked and still comes back to stab Bond with a tooth-pick, only to be shot in the head, great.
Sure, special edition’s are that much faster, accelerate harder, shift quicker, are lighter, have extensive carbon-fiber works, but it’s still an SLR, get over it already. I’m done whining. The SLR Mclaren 722 S Roadster features 650hp from a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 and a convertible soft-top that’ll stay put at speeds above 320km/h. Of course, it’s engine is hand-built and uses some very very exclusive materials that are almost impossbile to pronounce and no you cannot have it, only 150 other people would be able to own it. Other than that, it’s a SLR. Click here to read what Mercedes has to say about its 722 S Roadster.
