The small car market is probably the most competitive segment of it all, even for more established, upmarket brands like Audi, BMW, Mercedes who have to compete with the kings of small cars; the Japanese brands. European brands have heated up the market over the past few years and have been giving the Japanese a good run for their money with examples from BMW and its 1-series together with its MINI sub-brand. Now we have Audi stating its intentions with this, the Metroproject Quattro Concept or otherwise known as the A1.
Unlike the concept depicted in the images below, the new A1, due to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show early next month will sport four doors. Europe will naturally be the first market to receive the production model of the A1 which will be spawned from the concept shown here. The A1 is likely to be built in Brussels, Belgium and be introduced as a 2009 model. Word has it that a electric model could follow shortly but what we would really like to see is a coupe model of the A1. Maybe a RS1 could get the job done, both looks and fun wise.
