The Asian GT Challenge, which features top class supercar actions, has been forced to be dropped from the 2008 Super GT International Series Malaysia race schedule due to time constraint.
“After re-assessing the race schedule and upon consultation with promoters of the Asian GT Challenge series, it had been agreed for the event to be excluded from this year’s race programme,” says Azhar Ghazali, the Press Officer of Sepang International Circuit.
In a statement issued today, Azhar said the decision was also made to prevent the event from finishing too late in the evening apart from the consideration on the possibility of late evening showers during the three days.
“It’s unfortunate, but there is still four more top class racing series that fans can enjoy apart from the main Super GT event,” he said, adding that the support races are the new Aston Martin Asia Cup, the Asian Supercar Challenge and the single seater formula series – the Asian Formula Renault Challenge and the Formula V6 Asia.
