Nieto..

I saw many ppl put stainless steel as air intake. I have to disagree with this idea.
This is because steel will absorb heat very fast and eliminate the point of taking in Cool Air intake altogether. Imagine when u idle at traffic light, all heat goto ur air intake pipe.. then when want to accelerate, sure some power loss there. if at high speed already, perhaps its same since air is cold...

I also saw a lot of ppl use those carbon fibre/plastic type of air intake... this is much better. But expensive. Thats why i go for hardware pipe.. cheap and not absorb heat easily.

My 2 sen: if u use a stainless steel as air intake, better find a heatshield to cover it up... then it will be good.

Donzcity, there is no place in your engine bay which is cool. CAI and heatshields are just to encourage cooler air for ur airfilter. You put whatever pipe or wrap ur whole air intake up all the way to the carb/t-body also u'll still suck in hot air. And ur piping will always be warm. So whatever carbon fibre/plastic RM999999 also u'll still be getting the same result. U think those carbon fibre/plastic type of air intake are real carbon fibre? Some are just plastic laminated CF-look... SOME.

Unless u get those pipercross or those total sealed up kind all the way to ur front bumper, and u wrap the whole thing from top to bottom with heat insulation material, then only maybe u can say u get real cool air.

do u put the bullet from exhaust to your intake?
wa... no money buy peluru ~ ha ha...!!!

DONZcity:
if u said stainless steel, chrome stainless steel not really absorb da heat, i can make a scope at bonnet to get cooler air or jus like NITRUS said, wrap here and wrap there.... btw, daylight is hot, and i cant go fast at daylight, too muc traffic... i force to economic driving at daylight~ if at nite ^^ different story lah ha ha, at nite not really hot ma~ if u scare ur engine so hot, den change ur aircond hose straight away to engine, no nid go passenger, den ur engine will bcom cooler he he

cannot also la.... even using total sealed up pipercross filter, the air still has to go through the hot engine bay to reach the TB....

best is make ur engine bay air circulation good... means more air is rushed into the engine bay to reduce the temperature.... u can alwiz start with changing to larger opening front grill......

Haha..

Ya all engine bay is hot.. but if u see, the aircond pipe also is metal and IT IS covered by Insuflex type of material to retain its coldness OR to avoid heat coming in to it. So wrapping it SURELY makes a different. Another way is to make heat shields for extractor more efficient.

Make air flow in engine better is good idea too. If u see some car lifted up the bonet near to wiper side. so hot air more easy to go up there. But then ur wiper heated up more and more easy to damage also. I tried it before by put a few nuts between the bonet and bracket. Seems like no different.. (unnoticeable for me).
But i reckon it does make a different coz can feel hot air come out there.

The headlight trick has been done b4... no need to take it out. Smash ur headlight, remove the bulb and the reflector act as a bellmouth. Connect ur hose to intake from there. If police ask, just say accident.. no money to replace headlight yet.

Hahhahahaa..

Silly question, i know...but would it be possible to reroute the air-con air to the air intake or perhaps do some piping in that manner? If that's a good idea...i'll get my mech to do it someday...

(me ex-biker...so please bear with teh noobness...)

moonbiker,
all air around us is not oxygen wat...
main content is nitrogen/hydrogen forget liao.
but, in colder air, oxygen density increases... thats why CAI lo.

Random Post Every 5 Minutes

Hey guys,

I recently helped a guy jump start his car in Bangsar when it was drizzling. As he was fixing the jumper cables, he dropped one on the road (which was wet). I didn't think much of it.

After a couple of days without taking the car out, I couldn't start my car. So since the battery was about a year old I decided to have it changed and got a new one. Of course before replacing a new battery, I cleaned the connectors from the carbon residue with WD40 and wiped it dry. After...
