I think most local assembled civic eg headlight are all quite dim and don't really project the lights well. Anyone have any solutions to make the lights brighter?( Don't want HID lights)

can go to any accesory shop .. upgrade your wiring. it is usually premade. just need to install and this will allow you to use 90/100W bulb instead of the 50/60W bulb u currently use. should be brighter.

bro amran,
upgrade wiring, is it change to new wiring? How much it cost? Using 90/100w bulb, will the headlamp become yellowish in long term?

Upgrade wiring kit. Will it have any dangerous risk like burning up or what ?

Well it's not really perfect condition(already 15 years old) so there's some scratch mark done by stones hitting on it, but it's still consider clear. Just the light very dim.

The insides of the headlight are not reflecting good enough..
You can DIY clean it if you have the time, which involves opening it by oven heating up first.. then just clean all the chrome paint inside....or respray the chrome paint. clean the glass/plastic up abit & it should be bright again....dont forget to change your bulb also....and if you like you can spray the inside shell flat black also...

You can google more detail instructions...

did this about 2 years ago.....still in good condition..ill post some pictures if ure interested.

Sure I'm interested but first I'll need to find an oven which i can use to bake the headlamps. My mother will surely kill me if i use her oven.
Btw, where to get the chrome paints ? Never heard of chrome color aerosol spray paint.

That is the most stupid way to ruin your car and put your car at chance of getting fire.

You dont have to bake it for long....takes about 3-5 mins.....or you'll "overcook" it...haha...
....do it at night when everybody's asleep..

you can get chrome spray paint at the hardware store or motorcycle spare parts store, but some stores might not keep stock.....just look around, you'll find it.

just a word of caution...make sure the headlight plastic/glass is still hard (not too seasoned (brittle)) or you'll risk cracking it in 2 when you "kopak" the headlight. I found out the hard way...

Gd luck...i'll post some pics later..

seriously all headlights will age over time, the chrome plated housing might have dull so it can't reflect the light well, espeically EG headlights are the old timer lights not those modern crystal type.

I'll simply get another set since junk yard has bunch of them to choose from.

My EG headlights also pretty dim. A quick "fix" i did was installing OEM foglights to provide extra lighting. But i think the best option is actually replacing the headlights themselves with new ones. Offcourse depends if you have the budget. If on budget, best to clean the headlights like aalto said.

I have already actually ordered some new headlights myself, after install hope lights will be brighter. If it isn't i think i will have to get the wiring looked at..

Word has it that Saab, under new owners Spyker, will be making a return to the twisties of the WRC for the first time sine 1979.
