Hello all Toyota-rians
I own a 1996 AE111 manual... it is completely stock and is in PRISTINE condition... extremely low genuine mileage (70,000km) and in the family since new.
I was thinking of converting it to auto. I do not want to do a complete engine + transmission conversion, as i feel very sayang to swap this engine, being in the fantastic condition that it is in..
Anyone out there has managed to do a conversion like this? I was told I need the following parts
1. Transmission - from AE111. Any other bolt-on, newer alternatives?
2. Brake / accelerator pedals module
3. Gear lever
4. New meter instrumentation - to show gear position
5. Wire harness
6. Engine ECU for auto transmission
7. Engine/transmission mounting
I am not entirely sure about item number 6. Is it really necessary?
I have previously had a Wira 1.5 converted to auto, and included in the conversion is a new radiator (extra cooling for the auto trans fluid) and a more powerful starter. Are these also required in an AE111 conversion to auto?
Thanks....
