the 13B in a rx8 gives a warning signal at 9000 RPM to shift gear. i was wondering a what modified one can do?

Turbo FCs and FDs redlines from 7K-8K. (13BT & 13REW)
NA FCs redlines from 8K-9K. (13B)
RX8 redlines from 8.5K-10K (13B)

based on american specs. don't think there's a huge diff in jspec. hope this helps!

morningstalker,

i think there will still be the sound because i remember the
Yumekobo's (spelling?) FD had the std buzzer sound too..

aspec_fc,

actually the RX8's redline is 9000rpm but can be revved to 9500rpm before rev cuts.
I drove it before and the buzzer comes on at 9000rpm but is slow .. Zzz
no offence RX8 admirers/owners, but if only mazda used the turbo 13B.

the renesis is a great engine even without turbo. how many 1300cc production engine can produce ~238hp?
but with turbo it would be greater.
i hope the next RX-7 comes with turbo for easy modification.

thanx aspec_fc,

i rad about a RX-3 at autospeed using 13BT S4/5 that can go up to 1150 RPM.

11500 rpm or 1150 rpm.. typo..

anyways, i heard they're putting together a newer n better 13b twinturbo in the next gen rx7... yummy..

sometimes you cant see whats on paper.

you'd have to drive it to know. And quite frankly, I was very dissapointed with it.
Try and drive it and you'd know what i mean ..

there was a FB with peripheral port 13B that would redline at 11000rpm in the states about a year ago. but that motor wouldn't last too long till the owner toast the motor.

I actually drove a RX8 once where the salesman took me out for a test on a country road. yes...the renesis is 238hp; 150 torque. i have to admit that the car response aren't too good under 5Krpm. but with 150 torque and the smoothness of the rotary it is hard to feel the surging power similar to a turbo or a V8. but the power from 5K-9K is magnificent. also rotaries have always been known to have bad low end torque. Rotaries are rev happy engine above 5500K without turbo boost. besides, a season track driver wouldn't let the rpm drop that much either. even if it's a turbo powered, u wanna keep the rpm high enough for the maximum use of horsepower. quoted this from an article. i think it was SCC. "horsepower is for racing. Torque is for burnout"

sorry about the error, it was 11500 RPM

i think that renesis is same as a 13B 6-port with a 30% bigger port and better lubrication.

the renesis is using a lighter rotor, higher compression rotor. should be about 10.XX:1 compression. also with the side exhaust port, technically it increases the efficientcy of the rotary engine drastically.

A normal un-ported 13b can be revved to 9000rpm with easy .
With porting a 13B will be able to clear 10000rpm but you want to have a rev limit of 10k flat cause as the revs climb the faster it get and it will be very easy to over-rev. With PP porting 12k limit is set , but that is mostly for drag and full fledge circut battle ;)

this coming from a guy who's used to the power of a godzilla...why am I not surprised..haha :)

"horsepower is for racing. Torque is for burnout" ??

hmm, I've only heard of... "Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races" B)
