Same like how you know a lot about Lancer Evolution, hahahaha.

But I think Smuldge sifu here knows more than I do.
Evos are easier to know more coz have a lot less versions than WRX. Even so I only know just the surface of it coz not fortunate enough to own one yet. Someday maybe...what a lovely day that would be....

Specs for Evo are also similar across all market I think. Unlike Impreza where the engine is different for the Japanese market. I think for Impreza, getting info on WRX STI is easier than WRX. WRX always seems to be like the forgotten one since it is somewhere in the middle of a normal Impreza and the high performance WRX STI.

Yes, that's why it's also much easier to know more about Evos than WRX. WRX got so many differrent versions with small differences here and there, I just cannot remember already.

There are also a lot of special releases from time to time for STI. Spec C, S20x series, Type RA...

Legacy is a heavier car but it produces more power than GDA WRX. It is also larger and I believe more comfortable than WRX. If you manage to get a Spec B version, you can even get gold Brembo brakes similar to those found in WRX STI. With that said, i believe going for Legacy is better than going for a GDA WRX auto.

Legacy is more like a mature man's performance sedan, lots of trunk space and rear space. Price wise is around 80k for 2008 ver.

There is also the Legacy S402 if you need more performance with the joy of having more space and comfort compared to an Impreza ! But I believe it is harder to find than a S204 WRX Sti.

didnt read thhe comments before this but thats a wrx, basic telltales
-intake runners not red (note that red paint does tend to come off & it can be painted but both parts are identical)
-that intake is dif from an sti intake
anyway he didnt advertise it as an sti in the first place
Quite clear that this is not a STI model. But I think the question we are wondering about earlier is whether is this Impreza originally a GDA WRX or just a normal 1.6/2.0 NA but converted to WRX turbo?

2008 Legacy? So I guess you are referring to BM9 or BR9 Legacy. If you search for the older BL5 or BP5, then it can be had for around 50k.

BM9

BR9

S401 and S402 Legacy are almost non existent over here. Never heard of anyone seeing or owning one before. These cars are very rare I believe. Probably most of them are still residing in Japan. For Impreza, there are quite many S203 and S204 here. Occasionally can see them being sold at Mudah. But S202 seems to be more rare.

Hi,

I am refering to Subaru Legacy BL5, sleeper look with boxer growling .

By the way, the GDA that i posted is actually original according to the seller. Have yet to view the car, he said couple of units like this came from Japan and SG.

I think for BL5, you need to have pay 80k for one. Price have dropped a lot. Sub 60k is enough to get the car.

I wouldn't recommend Singapore cars. Not many people in Singapore take good care of their cars unlike the Japanese. From what I heard, when their car's COE is almost due, during that last few years the owners tend to neglect their cars since they know that their cars will be sold off eventually.

Take note, previously Singaporean registered cars are not allowed to be sold to Malaysia legally.

Anyway, buying a used car be it from Japan or anywhere else is a gamble anyway. Some car lovers maintain it, while some just use it as a point A to B mode of transport neglecting the best / basic maintenence.

That's normal, many even take off parts to sell them separately to at least get some money back.

Btw since you're very interested in WRX, maybe you might want to take a look at this 2006 S204 for sale, asking 95k, probably can nego below 90k.

I think not even recon cars dealer will consider bringing in Singaporean cars?

At least from what I heard, recon cars from Japan are inspected thoroughly as safe/passable before being exported out?

Yeah, that sounds like a natural thing for most people to do. If you know that you are already selling away the car for a dirt cheap price, you probably won't bother too much with the car's maintenance and care. Might even skip a few service and oil change interval during the last few years. As long as the car is still running when they sell it off.

For now with my meager intern salary, cannot imagine how to own such a car, hahaha. But the car does look quite good although I din't really like the inclusion of rear wide fender arch. For a limited unit like this, I think it is best to preserve the original body as much as possible and keep mods to mostly bolt on/plug and play.
