just as the title says.
the cheapest i found is RM265 for 2 BUR7EQ and 2 BUR9EQ. in a parts shop in cheras. still i thought is a little too pricey and that shouldn't be the price.
ah choi's selling at 280 per set. that's pricey! and it's only copper.

anyone else knows?

that's cheap already... i remembered last time i paid to links... they charge me at 320 per set... that's cut throat...

having these kind of cars... of course... we need to pay for it... but seriously, that's cheap ....

i paid for my lesson during my search for the right mechanic.

Good news. I got mine for RM608 for 2 sets of platinum NGKs. BUR7EQP and BUR9EQP. Notice the 'P' at the end of the code. Platinum is not exactly a performance upgrade. But they last twice the lifetime of the standard copper. I thought is reasonable since copper are almost RM300.
Now that I don't need the extra set, would anyone be interested in getting it for RM304? they are good for both FC and FD. else i'll keep it till next year.

There are alot of written posts about spark plugs types and how cold to use depending on how modified your RE is. You can head up rx7.com/forum and read up on it. It would surely help you in choosing the right plugs for your engine.

As for the price, it does seem kinda steep. Even for RE plugs. You might wanna try hitting up the dealers and using plugs from the rx8. Might be cheaper. Just a thought.

RM304 for a set of NGK platinum spark plugs.
BUR7EQP
BUR9EQP
2 of each for leading and trailing.
they are the same as the stock spark plugs but in platinum series. last twice the lifespan of a standard copper.

My thoughts & recommendation

I was tired of changing out my plugs every 9,000kms or so and so also decided to try out a set of platinum plugs since the cost is similar but supposedly last longer than copper...these are my thoughts and first hand experience -

1. They don't perform as well as the copper ones (i.e. slight hesistation at top end leading me to believe they don't spark quite as well). Changed out to copper and went for a run and car much smoother / pulls stronger to redline.
2. They don't last any longer than the copper ones
3. Given the above paying a little extra doesn't make sense
4. Best to stick with copper units and change regularly
5. If you RX is slightly modded best to go with copper 8 and 9 heat range.
6. The higher the number the colder the plug i.e. retains less combustion heat so lasts longer.
7. HKS or similar aftermarket plugs IMO suck especially the 10 & 11s for street use as they always foul causing flooding of engine = real pain to un-flood engine / very embarrassing in the workshop or worse still on the side of the road 8-(

By the way my RX was running 0.95bar boost with standard 2000 twin-turbos and oem fuel pump with direct cable and downpipe and HKS twin intakes.

Hope this helps all those pondering over which plugs to get and hence losing sleep over it...hehehe:confused_smile:

thanks for the input 13btt.
i've been using platinums for 2-3 years now and i had to use copper for the past six months. now i'm back on platinums. well, i really couldn't tell if there are any difference to it. maybe that's because mine's an NA?
talking about the 8s and 9s. i am really thinking about going with it. but honestly, i don't have any mods that is significant enough to do so.

Random Post Every 5 Minutes

Hello guys,

Can anyone recommend me a place I can get a pair of seats fitted? I already have it with me but am not really sure where to go. If I go to my workshop I'm not sure if they can do it as they may need to weld rite to fit it in? So where's a good and reasonably price one...The place I went said RM180 to fit if need to custom make...wow that's too expensive ....i don't think it's that difficult to do rite?

Thanks
