Hi guys got a question.. When you change your meter cluster to the nismo 320km version does the mileage automatically reset? Heard it from a friend when i went to check out a car for sale...the mileage seemed to be to good to be true and it was using the nismo cluster.. Any thoughts.. much appreciated

The mileage record is built within individual clusters. When you change to a brand new cluster, the mileage would start from 0 km ...

Could always be that the cluster was changed sometime after the car was bought hence previous mileage is not accounted for. Must watch out and be careful. However, the condition of the car is more telling than just taking into account the mileage.

Thanks for the help guys..
The condition of the car seems pretty good..
I dont know the actual mileage as the salesman is telling me that the original mileage on the car is 10k+ and i find that very hard to believe.. Anything to look out for?

10k+ .....IMPOSSIBLE !!! Most of the GTT or GTR have at least 100K and above due to it had been on the road for sometimes already! Look underneath the car and see did stay re-spray it...if they do...then the whole car might been repainted already....T

uh oh.... :)

I think most likely if u buy from dealer there should be some re-clocking of mileage and 'reconditioning' of the paint work done..... for me, it doesn't really matter that much as long as the overall condition of the car is good and it should not be involved in any major accidents....

do a compression test. If there are no knocking/detonating from car shouldn't post so much of a problem.

azmir: i wont be worried about compression if i were u coz if the compression totally fails u would have noticed it coz the car will shudder like a vibrator. On a good engine i would say its about 170-180 but note that however 135-170 are average depends on the abuse and the condition and year of usage of the engine itself.Borderline i think should be around 120, i think.

lets say if you have 165-150-155-165-158-110 across the six cylinder u might want to check out the one with the 110 reading. Normally cylinder #6 run leans and if there is a problem its always cylinder 6 because of the design of rb engines not getting nuff oil on number 6. If u get odd ones like cylinder 2 or 3 or anything in the middle u might have a major prob there.

btw, a major shite with the goverment removing RON97, anybody wanan share their thoughts of putting RON95 in our car? any impact on higher compression engines like RBs?

motor trader has published list of cars that can use RON95. Of course, Skyline is not in the list. 350z is though, and it can run on 95.

Hi guys, nice to meet u all GTR owner, I'm new here. Anyway, tomorrow I'm gonna go to view a bnr V-spec 2. Actually I have view this car last week, the mileage is about 30k+ with the nismo meter, after see this topic I start to worry. Is the dealer normally help us to do the compression test? Tomorrow gonna confirm this car already if I didn't see this topic. Or maybe anyone of senior here know this car, hopefully can know some information about this car from you. This bnr34 is with a GT wing and Veilside Rim and nismo muffler, can find out at motor trader. I'll very appreciate for any senior's suggestion here.

By the way, I wonder anyone bought the Sunway BN34 Vspec 2 today? Yesterday I just call the agent to ask about this car, this morning I call again to make appointment to view car but he told me car has been sold...... 0_0 I think that car is like awesome condition, too bad I slow him 1 step.

NeniNeniBoBo, I doubt the dealer will do a compression test for you.
What's most important is not the mileage but the overall condition of the car.

Thank you for your information, but I not so expert to hear how smooth of the engine condition is. I have read the "buying a gtr" from darkchild senior, listen the engine sound..... but it is quite hard for me. Anyway i'll try to check other thing like test the oil pressure, check the coolant, oil level. And one thing is, this car have change some part like pulley, cam, tomei fuel rail and aluminum tank, is it good to buy a moded gtr? Sorry for noob question, the aluminum tank is coolant tank?(the one below the fuse box)

Anyway, this is the picture i get from mudah.com.
