They cannot ban it because it happened at a Gov organized event. That crash is due to some MoFo who thinks that drag racing is like racing paper boats along a drain, can't be dangerous. Go see the video on YouTube. What barriers? The organizers of the race and the Gov should be blamed and be SUED!

The Minister's statement is the most idiotic. If it did not happen here it can happen elsewhere? WTF? He is DUMB!

already saw the video.

wat the minister said its true... it can happen elsewhere...just bcoz it happened in putrajaya doesnt mean it wont happen elsewhere.

as for barriers... yeah well, the call for drag strips has fallen on deaf ears for over a decade afaik.....hence this is the result...MUSC has done their best for crowd control.....but do take note that their events are done on closed public streets...they cant be putting up barriers or grandstands etc there....i guess the metal gate thing is the best they can do....they still need to think about portability as MUSC organizes drag events all over the country. and in my view... they are solely responsible for keeping LEGAL drag racing alive in this country....wanna count on SDB? pls la... so much bullshit involved that participation has been scarce....everytime go SDB its the same cars... especially Class A... the same 3 cars...and ONLY those 3 cars

hopefully this unfortunate crash has fallen on fully funtioning ears (or at least with some hearing aid) so that they will start listening to the call for proper drag strips...and not just in selangor/KL... but preferably in every state...coz the strips still need to be easily accessible....

reallly got to make motorsport available to the masses and re-brand, else elder generation will relate motorsport to illegal race and rempit stuff. or maybe they thinking, 'let them do it at the street eri saturday night, we get more income with saman then'. its just shyte.

organizer, some i think its too concerned about the profit and stuff, they forget about branding.why not have it cheap and affordable at 1st,slowly charge up la.i mean, ppl wll understand,u will maintain ur profit then and the sport will grow. those legal/offically organized event, when they go rent a track and stuff, maybe gomen wanna to subsidize the rent etc. things can realy change if ppl up there wanted to.

Well, in an accident anything can happen. Saw the one on the US circuit, even though proper circuit and proper fencing etc., the car at top speed when they crash one was sent flying even over the fence and into the spectators.....

17 hurt at Million Youths Gathering drag race mishap

PUTRAJAYA: Seventeen spectators at a drag race held in conjunction with the Million Youths Rally were injured on midnight Saturday when one of the competing cars skidded during a trial run.

In the incident at the Wadi Ehsan Highway at Precinct 19 here, the car struck the victims who were watching from outside the permitted perimeters.

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said four of the victims, who sustained serious injuries, were warded at Putrajaya Hospital, while the driver of the car escaped unhurt.

Ahmad Shabery visits one of the victims Muhammad Iskandar Rasiq Shaari at the Putrajaya Hospital on Sunday. With him is the victim's father Shaari Bujang. - MOHD SAHAR MISNI/The Star

He said the race was discontinued and that he would request the organisers to conduct an investigation including lodging a police report.

"I don't want a repeat of the tragedy. We regret what happened. We will see what assistance we can provide to the victims and their families," he told reporters after visiting the scene of the incident.

Ahmad Shabery said the race was arranged by experienced organisers but he had been made to understand that there was no sanctioning body to monitor and supervise competitions of such nature.

He added that he would ask the Cabinet to expedite approval for the building of a "drag" race circuit to avoid any untoward incidents on normal roads.

He said the allocation for the proposed circuit included the construction of a straight race track, measuring at least 800m in length, with special seats for spectators.

As for responsibility, well... the MUSC Drag Challenge events have been held for quite some time... once I saw spectators sitting and squatting by the road side without any fence... no wonder spectators behind the bush felt invincible... safety? Recent drag at Sepang also had a lady flagging off competitors... lagi dangerous...

Motorsport is dangerous. Berani buat, berani tanggung, tak berani tanggung, jangan buat.

our govt will only take action after an accident happen..its normal....:banghead:
correct. why?

government builds a track before anything happens
1. motorsport ppl rejoice
2. general public complain government waste money on this project should do something else
3. small group happy, big group unhappy

government builds a track AFTER people dies
1. motorsport ppl rejoice
2. general public feel government take action, very good
3. everybody happy except the unfortunate ones in the accident.

as a government, its very good maths. give a pat on your back if you voted for this government. good job! :smokin:

Doesn't work that way. You race on highway and get killed or kill others, the rakyat want the cops to clamp down on all these cars and "racers". not build a track for them.

Government body organized/sanctioned event like the recent MUSA drag thing, and people get killed, then the onus is on the Government.

So you should hope during races where Government is involved that the car flips out of the "track" and kill 20 people or so. Injury alone not enough, you need some people to die.

In Malaysia, no matter how we still can go Sepang trackday (RM350 for car, RM100 for bikes)... Altho <4km track is more ideal for budgeted car racing but I still dont get the reason why street racing been mentioned here, it is totally irrelevant !

Motorsports is not street racing, street racing is more on Reckless Speeding rather than real Racing...

Without <4km track is not an excuse to go illegal racing...

Thats the reason I vote Malaysia is not a motosport nation, it is the mind set problem...

In motorsport, every race will only have 1 winner, it is a very dedicate, extremely competative, need courage but not reckless, tough in physical and mental...

Cheers...

The Renault Alpine A110 has been the French auto manufacturer’s shining star back in the days when it swept a great number of titles in rallying back in the late 60s and 70s. It was only until the emergence of the Ferrari-powered Lancia Stratos that the Alpine’s march was brought to a stop, giving way to the focus-built machine that...
