Hi Guys,

Thinking abt this car lately, of course saw Mudah.my has plenty of this model but was wondering the above question...

a) Also, i know it can use RON95 safely, has anyone had any problem so far?

b) What are the best mfg year to buy for this model? 2007?

c) What are the common problem so far with the IS250 both UK & Japan spec?

d) What should i be looking out for when viewing the car?

Thanks all!

Here is my own personal tips for u.

a) Also, i know it can use RON95 safely, has anyone had any problem so far?
- Im on JP Spec, running RON95 for half year, no problems so far. no knocking.

b) What are the best mfg year to buy for this model? 2007?
- Will be back to your budget, if you budget allows, of course go for newer model.

c) What are the common problem so far with the IS250 both UK & Japan spec?
- No problems on my ride. if you have concerns on maintenance the car.
- Engine oil using approx 7 Litre/service. Spark plug about Rm100-150x6 which is about RM600-800.
- Brake system not really perfect but acceptable for normal driving, if you on "race mode", please do expect pads burning smell.

d) What should i be looking out for when viewing the car?
- best if you could bring a mechanic friend to test drive.
- if above is not an option, test drive yourself. on both highway and streets, try hold your shifting to higher revv to see if there's any funny sound or what.
- try drive on some uneven road, which can easily test out if there's any suspension/steering/drive shaft problem.

Extra tips
- If you feel even a "little" uncomfortable with the car, such as, funny sound, that a salesman simply find a reason to fool you off, please... please please... walk away and look for others again, the money is yours, you have the rights to walk away.
- Pray god and hope that you got a nice car, my friend got a 2008 JP spec, and sold off within 2 weeks due to without inform by salesman the car been thru accident.

Am still considering it, maybe the Uk spec since there's more pros. Btw any reliable mechanic in PJ/Sunway with the tools and knowledge on IS250? Is Vision ok? Wanna also check if the mileage has been tempered with and also the overall cars.

Thanks guys!

If u go for UK spec. u have to triple check your car under carriage as most of the UK spec are having rusted under carriage.

good luck.

Simple switch to sport mode and hold on to 5th gear on 5000rpm and check if your can can go beyond 220km/h, I tried 4th gear on 6500rpm it hits only 200km/h may be my car is too old lo :driver:

To those who has 06' IS250 JPN Spec, may I ask the CD Player (non Mark Levinson) is it a changer or just a single disc? Am looking for an IS, confusing part is, the player does not have "LOAD" button but has "CH Disc" buttons.

it's a single disc player with HDD. It will record the disc as you play it. Only need to play the disc once and it will be stored in your HDD. i don't think there is a load button, just eject the disc inside and indest the new one..................

From the last owner, i think i deleted almost 100 cd's - so go wild and record your whole collection in it.

I see. But what if we ejected the disc midway thru the disc? Will it record ahead and complete the entire duplication into the HDD or will it only record while we playing the track and not record the track that we have not played?

I read from another thread one of the members here had his HDD giving problems with some error message on the screen. There's no follow up on the thread on the solution....so anyone face the issue with faulty HDD? Anyone had the HDD replaced before? As you know HDD has a lifespan moreover the car is moving all the time couple with our malaysian bumpy roads...I m just afraid the HDD will give way after some time....I wonder how can we replace the HDD and hopefully its a plug and play process which I can just purchase one from the computer shop and plug it in n move on.

bro,

it records ahead of what is being played. It will even show on the screen which songs already recorded. and the recording is quite fast.

i'm sure can find HDD spare parts from suppliers - but what model n spec is a good question. don't think it would be so easy just to buy from computer shop ler....................

It means so far, no one has had the HDD fail on them yet even the 2006's. Quite reliable eh.

Bro,

You can do a search for tips on buying IS250 in the thread - talked about many times. Most of us are active on facebook with our own group. Search for MY Lexus group, you can get some more help there.
