If you drive a BMW M car, an Audi S car, a GTR, GTFO, this is not applicable for you.

Not intake
Not exhaust
Not suspension

Tyres

Don't mean the biggest rim you can fit with the cheapest low profile tires.

my wira 93t run on rpo1 (china mari) ps3 195/55/r15.
1/2 cut engine pricey, so temporary on rpo1 chop lah. Don flame me, why i cheap on rims.
Still puzzle me....next upgrade to get rid of rpo1 chop. Stick to 15" or up 16" ?
Set a side tyre price 1st.
No plan at all to up bhp. Stock engine.

If you want budget rims, get Advanti.. adik OZ Racing. Stick to 15" for cheaper rubbers, BUT, newer tyres are all coming in 16" and 17" upwards...that's the trend moving forward. I'm sticking to my 15".. I buy 4 donuts..other people can only buy 2 1/2... I not so rich, tyres are wear and tear.

ARB, period..
useless when the tires can't grip and slip. whatever ARB, adjustable suspension, magic sauce, put nankang tires..end up in longkang also.

Stick to 15' and replace rims with ori RPF1.
RPF1 mahal o.

Yes totally agree again. ARB was one of the last mods I did on my car as well. When I got my car, the first things I changed was sport springs, tires & rims all practically done at the same time. Then start getting used to the handling like that first before I decided what I want to improve then add ARB, strut bars and others. The tires are the costliest of my mods also.

Hahaha yeah I know, just poisoning him, but at least still cheaper than forged Rays.
Or like you said just settle with Advanti or Enkei Tuning then.

If can find one of these will be the best but will cost the bomb!

Frankly speaking, save money on rims, go balls out on the tyres. Buy the best you can afford for your usage. if your car is a garage queen, can get Advan AD08. If its daily driven to work, RE003 is a good compromise.

Extreme category have but in wet drive slower.......:driver::biggrin:
What extreme category for 195/50 R15? Come intro some tires.

I asked last week while I was at Weng Tat SS14, 195/50 R15 RE003 RM212 w/GST, PS3 RM265 w/GST

Exactly, if budget limited like mine, prioritize more of the budget for tires instead of rims but unfortunately I see most people are the other way around, care for image and style more!

Hankook RS3, Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec, and Toyo R1R supposed to have 195/50/15. Or upsize a bit to 205/50/15 then can use AD08R also.

Thats why lorrr.....I ask. Stick with 15", if have Tyre can perform more or less than ps3.
So, I can switch that cheapo rpo1. This time I want to search for ori rims.
Just wanna confirm, if 15" have good Tyre to match in future.
Later danggggg.....performance Tyre support 16".
double hole and pressball.

My first mod for passenger car?

1:Bigger in car tong sampah.

2: Rubber floor mats for monsoon season. Those cloth mats are great in dry, but hate the odour of wet carpets in the rain. Thus rubber mats.

3. For tires, i choose tires with big grooves since they seems to work better in the rain despite being noisy as hell in the dry. In dry, R1Rs for its current pricepoint. Used to be RE003.

I thought R1R is bad in the rain ? The grooves are not that much typical of an extreme category tire.

How much is it? And is it *that* good? Calling vr2turbo our resident rubber specialist.

I only know Okomoto 003 is good.

Okomoto?, then you more expert......hahhahahha

V720 is from Kumho extreme range. As in most extreme tyres, they are very good in dry, bad in wet, and pretty noisy when worn....:smokin:

Not suitable for daily drive in tropical weather. Wet performance is vital for daily drivers in Malaysia imo.

Daily drive better off with UHP tyres. 15" will be Michelin PS3, Bridgestone RE-003, Hankook V12Evo2, Goodyear F1-D5.....:driver:

V701, looks promising on paper, price on par with RE003 and cheaper than PS3. I wonder if the current batch of PS3 still have rubber chipping off or not, else is probably use it again.

Though in theory, newer tires with the latest technology should perform better.

Maybe next time you try that one and give us a review again like last time?
My next tire change also I'm planning to try either that V701, the V12E2, or PS4 if I got budget, but it's still like 1.5-2 more years to go on my current CSC5.

Hahaha yeah, you know la.
Last time F1A2 did not have my front size 225/50/17 but now I saw in various websites overseas the F1A3 would have it, so hopefully it will be also available here. However if the price is about the same as PS4, then maybe I'd rather get the PS4 if I got the budget that is! But I'm more eager to try that V701 or V12E2 coz both look promising and seem good value for money, perfect for poor blokes like me! And I've never tried those 2 brands before as well.

Btw back to topic, here's a video about first mods to do and also agree with this thread which is tires!

That's the thing, majority of Malaysians, even the "tuners", "modders" just get the biggest rim and the cheapest tire they can afford. Stating lower profile tires are "sportier" cause firmer sidewall with better handling.

I've seen so many Myvi's rolling in 17" with the absolute cheapest tires. For the same amount of money they could have gotten 15" with the best tires available.

I'm still of the opinion that too thin tires actually hampers the handling especially on everyday normal road as the car tends to skip and hop across everyday road imperfections, losing traction. That's why I often already mentioned, for me I go for minimum 10cm sidewall, ideally around 10.5-11cm, so still got some flexibility to absorb those imperfections and maintain comfort at the same time, the best balance between performance and comfort while still looking relatively good or 'sporty'.

For most people, not just Malaysians, style and image worth 99% so they prioritize that first! Furthermore, tires will wear out hence most people not willing to spend much on them, as opposed to rims which theoretically should last forever (but then people also often keep changing rims to follow trend or they just got bored). So yeah, even if those big rims actually slow them down and hamper their handling, they'd still spend most of their limited budget on that instead of good tires, unfortunately. Oh well it's their money not ours so they can do whatever they want as long as they don't skid on their shit tires and bang our cars!

Bump, skip, hop also depends how hard the suspension also. If stock suspension still not too bad even ultra low profile tyre....
