Pls Help! : GTi - camshaft upgrade

I'm new in the forum, I have a 2001 Satria GTi, I was wondering.... what good would it do if I upgraded the camshafts to something better??

I have absolutely no info on anything "cam related", so... could anyone explain to me a bit??? sorry for the blurness... thanks!
