If what you ever wanted is the new Mazda Miata but wished that it has an Italian flair and a turbocharged engine, your prayers have been answered. The 2015 LA Auto Show is the time where new cars like the Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 are unveiled, and the newest addition into the auto world is the new Fiat 124 Spider.

To those wondering the connection between the 124 Spider and the Miata, this new Fiat uses the chassis and interior of the MX-5 but added their own exterior design and engine underneath the hood as well.

Powering the new 124 Spider is Fiat’s own turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine lifted out from the 500 Abarth. With 160-horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, it gets a slight bump of power compared to the Miata’s 155-horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. The 124 Spider comes with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

According to Fiat, the design of the 124 Spider pays homage to the original 124 Spider, from the general shape of the grille to the rectangular taillight shape. The new 124 Spider gets an upright fascia with rounded lamps as well as LED running lamp signature.

Do not worry about the interior as like we said earlier, the interior is lifted straight from a Miata. The control knobs, infotainment system, and window switches are exactly where you will find them in a Miata, which is not a bad thing actually. Fiat said that they will be launching the 124 Spider next summer and the first 124 examples will be the limited-edition Prima Edizione Lusso trim with individually numbered badges.
