Vauxhall Corsa VXR Spied!

Opel Corsa OPC 2

Vauxhall may be limited to just European countries, but they are still keen to challenge the Ford Fiesta ST and the Peugeot 208 GTI in the B-Segment hot hatch category. Vauxhall does have a very steep hill to climb if it wants to challenge the likes of the Fiesta ST, as the Fiesta ST has set the standards when it comes to a hot hatch.

What CarScoops has spied here, is what we believe is the hotter Vauxhall Corsa VXR that is testing around Nurburgring. Despite being clad in generous amount of camouflage, it does show off hotter bits like a sharper and lowered front bumper, with the front grille being completely black. Besides that, the rims, measuring at 18″, are borrowed from the bigger brother Astra VXR. Ride height is also lower than the regular Corsa. The Corsa VXR also sports a twin muffler set up for that sportier look. Like other hot hatches in the market, the Corsa VXR’s interior will also benefit from bucket seats as well as unique trims.

Powering the new Vauxhall Corsa VXR would likely be their familiar 1.6L turbocharged Spark Injection Direct Injection (SIDI) inline-4 engine, with 300Nm of torque. The Corsa VXR’s competitors has already been in the 200 hp region for quite some time, with the Fiesta ST being the lowest at 189 hp. In that case, Vauxhall will have to wring at least 200 hp from their engines in order to remain competitive.
