Yes, you have read that right. It seems that the revered place where every big name in the automotive industry is taking their best machines to fine tune them is in the headlines again where it is still under financial problems. Despite having Dusseldorf-based Capricorn coming into rescue with 77 million Euros in their pockets plus the promise of some future investment, things had yet to settle down at the Nurburgring.

However, another saviour seems to be in favour of this legendary circuit where only months after being sold once, the ‘Ring now has a new owner in the form of a Russian billionaire, Viktor Kharitonin. While Capricorn does have the funds to back the purchase up, German business magazine Wirtschafts Woche reported that the company was not keeping up with its payment for the track where they missed the regular USD 6.3 million instalments.

Like a knight in shining armour, Kharitonin did not only stepped in to take over Capricorn’s share, but had also paid the missed amounts and put down the money for December’s payment earlier. This billionaire is actually the founder of Pharmstandard, Russia’s largest pharmaceutical company and according to the same German magazine, his wealth is estimated at over USD 1 billion.

If any of you are worried that he might have some shady plans to be executed on the Nurburgring, rest assured that at least he is a petrolhead where he once took part in the Mille Miglia in a 1935 Mercedes 500 K.
