Being one of the most prized Ferraris around, the 250 GTO was designed from ground up as a race car to compete in GT Racing. The 250 GTO was initially developed by Giotto Bizzarrini, who placed a 3.0L V12 engine from the 250 Testa Rossa while Sergio Scaglietti designed the iconic body. After a dispute with Enzo Ferrari, the 250 GTO project was given to Mauro Forghieri who worked alongside Scaglietti to complete it.
