Drink Drivers Dissuaded from Driving Drunk – Through Religion!

We’ve already seen attempts to dissuade drivers from drinking under the influence of alcohol with clips depicting lurid scenes where people have lost loved ones, limbs or even live. But rather than having to go through the five stages of grief, for some often turning to religion to seek solace, a restaurant in Chennai, India by the name of Zara has teamed up with an ad agency to help dissuade their patrons from leaving their bar intoxicated; trying to ensure that they’ve got themselves a pool of returning customers no doubt, through the use of religion.

Apparently, the number of road fatalities in India due to drunk driving account for an alarming 70% of the time, which prompted Zara to try and come up with their own promotional clip through the use of religion. A tall order for not so creative minds, but they’ve come up manages to do just that.

It just so happens that the Hindu religion has somewhere along the lines of about 330 million deities, that roughly works out to be 12 times the population of Malaysia, but the point of the matter is that of all those deities, none is as feared as Yama, the Hindu god of death – or the Grim Reaper to put things into perspective.

As patrons have their cars returned to them via the valet service, it seems some else came along for the ride as well (Yama) and with a country rather sensitive to the supernatural, it was certainly a hair-raising, heart-stopping and eye-popping moment for these varied-levels of intoxicated motorists about to get behind the wheel and as such, we have nothing but praises for this clip that literally scared the responsibility back into people – not to mention the potential number of lives saved that night alone!
