Earlier today, Euromobil Sdn. Bhd. announced the arrival of the new generation Audi Q5 on our shores. The Q5 combines subtle styling revisions, together with equipment enhancements, power tweak and economy gains of up to seven percent. It is available for order now, priced from RM328,000 and is expected to be on roads by end of October.
Only one engine variant will be available for sale – the trusty 2.0 TFSI turbo mill that is good for 225hp/350Nm (a 7% hike in power compared to its predecessor). The engine is paired to an eight-speed Tiptronic and will power the Q5 from zerotohundred in 7.1 seconds, up to a claimed top speed of 222km/h. Other tech includes an engine start/stop system, new electromechanical steering, suspension revisions, as well as revised engine management systems that contribute to greater efficiency figures (again, 7% better than its predecessor).
The Q5 maintains the five-link front and trapezoidal-link rear set-up, but with altered spring rates that add to comfort and refinement. The electro-mechanical power steering has also been enhanced to give drivers a better feel of the road in their palms. This system adjusts the power assist based on vehicle speed and does not consume any energy when in the stragith-ahead position, contributing to reduced fuel consumption. The more adventurous driver will be glad to know that the Q5 isn’t all just looks; maximum climbing angle is 31 degrees, approach and departure are 25 degrees each, ramp angle at 17 degrees and ground clearance measuring 20cm ensuring performance on rugged terrain.
Exterior tweaks include a single strip LED DRLs integrated into both headlamp and tail lights, high-gloss black frame grille, modified bumpers with high-gloss black inserts, fog lights with chrome rings, as well as a redesigned rear diffuser and tailpipes. The interior receives similar treatment with more chrome and high-gloss black trim used, the steering wheel now featuring the latest Q-specific design. Visual pizzaz can be added to the Q5 via the sporty S-line package (a RM36,000 option). This combines exterior and interior styling hallmarks with front and rear bumpers, side radiator grilles and sports themed diffuser insert.
