One of the astounding characteristics of European cars is that they have this “sleeper” look that somehow suggests that it is more sedate than it really is, designed to transport occupants in comfort and luxury. While those facts are true, it is a known fact since the days of our fathers, that these well-built euro machines are not to be trifled with. Even more so now with the manufacturers re-embracing the turbo trend, plus the accessibility of new aftermarket tuning options available, the euros have gained ever more muscle and finesse throughout the years to rule the cardom. Then again, not till a GTR drops by to say hello and bye-bye.
And to demonstrate this point, here we have an orange BMW M5. To the untrained eye, this might only look like an executive sedan for the white collars. But to the enthusiasts, the “M” badge empowers the E60 with 507 bhp on tap, in a race-engineered V10, mated to a 7 speed sequential SMG. Amazing vital stats for a factory stock executive super sedan. Now, to the real enthusiasts’ in the know, this Orange M5 has not one, but twin G-Power superchargers strapped on to each banks of the V10 feeding it to a bespoke intake plenum boosting the M5 to 720bhp!. Now that’s Jalapeno pepper in a Sunkist clothing.

A regular MKVI Golf GTI now makes about 200 odd bhp as standard. A quick 10 minute ecu flash and some plumbing can bump it close to 300bhp!
This Turquoise GTI VI by Exotic Mods now makes 400bhp with much assistance from a GT28 turbine, uprated cooling, exhaust and engine mapping. Revozport body kit completes its look and managed a 2:38ish at the TIMETOATTACK
And although Volkswagen had set a strong ground over here for quite some time with their range of Polos, Sciroccos and Golf GTIs, Renault Sport hatches are gaining pace with their flagship model, the Megane RS 250.
With almost 250bhp as standard, ready to launch the French hatchback into action, it had set an impressive record of 2:43.02 on Sepang International Circuit in its stock form with help from just 2 pairs of Toyo semi slicks!
