Leaked: 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Yesterday a couple of scanned magazine photos made way to the Internet and revealed the new 2011 Porsche Cayenne but now, a whole batch of official images of the completely redesigned SUV has just been uploaded to the World Wide Web.

Well nothing can be confirmed until we see the real thing but based on these images it seems as if Porsche’s most profitable model looks a lot less clumsy and sleeker than it’s predecessor thanks to a lowered roofline, steeper rear tailgate and a sharper front snout.

While the exterior is still distinctively Cayenne, the interior has been completely redesigned from the ground up with the dashboard and center and lower consoles looking very similar to the Panamera sports sedan.

The new Cayenne will share a number of its mechanical bits with the Panamera but its platform has been derived from the new Volkswagen Touareg and though the new Cayenne has grown in proportion, it’s actually somewhere around 200kg lighter than the outgoing model.

According to our source, powetrain options will include the VW Group-sourced 3.6-liter V6 petrol with 300HP (also found in the Panamera) and 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel with 240HP, as well as a 4.8-liter V8 in naturally aspirated (Cayenne S 400HP) and turbocharged forms (Cayenne Turbo 500HP).

Furthermore, the Cayenne will be offered with the same diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain as the Touareg coupling a 3.3-liter supercharged V6 TSI producing 333HP and 265 lb-ft of torque to a 47HP electric motor for a total output of 380HP and 428 lb-ft.

The 2011 Cayenne will have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show early next week and go on sale this Spring.
