First the SUV fad and now its the small hot hatch fad of the 80’s all over again, with much more power and creature comforts of course. With a number of automakers already offering their own take of the small hatch, now Lexus seems to be jumping on the wagon as well. Reports are saying that Lexus will unveil a new concept to be shown at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and it is aimed squarely at the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series in Europe.
Rumoured to be badged either the “BS” or “CS”, the new Lexus will be powered by the HS250h powerplant effectively making the hatch a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, gas-electric vehicle packing 185hp at the front wheels.
Although what we will see in Frankfurt is technically a concept, according to Lexus insiders, it will be “a 90% match for the real thing” which if all goes according to plans, will debut in production form at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
