It’s official now, everything from Sweden is cool and that includes Ikea. Swedish tuning firm SVK Customs are in the midst of prepping a Ferrari 550 GTR with a carbon fiber widebody and BMW heart.

The carbon fiber body kit was fabricated by the shop in-house and sees the rear measuring 2.18-meters wide. To keep both sides of the body kit symmetrical, a 3D scanner was used on the first side and then CAD drawings were produced from it. Following that, a CNC mill was used to fabricate polystyrene plugs for the other side.

The main purpose of the car is for drifting and with that, a custom suspension set had to be made. Keeping tyre changes quick are a set of AP Racing airjacks and center bolt hubs while custom arms give it up to 55-degrees of angle, more than enough to get that carbon fiber-ed booty out wide.

While SVK are keeping the Ferrari gearbox and driveshaft, motivation will be all-German courtesy of a BMW V8 with a supercharger bolted on. According to SVK, the Italian V12 lump’s crankshaft couldn’t hold it together past 600hp and they were aiming for quadruple figures on the rollers.

There’s so much more to go but it’s pretty obvious that this thing is going to create waves in the drifting community. The shop also seems to own all the carbon fiber in Sweden, or that region at least, as they have a few other builds that involve some heavy carbon fiber fabrication such as a Mercedes-Benz 500E W124 that’s being converted into a touring car spec and a carbon fiber Ford Escort Cosworth. They’ve also gone the Jap route with a carbon fiber Nissan Skyline R33 for drifting.

Currently, the owner of SVK drifts around in an M5-powered 635CSI but he’s retiring that car back to road duty and replacing it with the 550.
