We were all crossing our fingers that Lamborghini would have lifted the lid on its Murcielago replacement at the Paris Motor Show but we were instead treated to the Sesto Elemento concept that was a pornographic tribute to carbon fiber and a glimpse at the brand’s future direction.
It was to be dubbed the Jota but according to a FerrariChat forum member that reportedly attended a private preview in Singapore, the ‘Jota’ nameplate has been banished and been replaced by alphanumerical LP700-4.
The tipster also spilled some deets on the performance specs. Power will be sourced from a 6.5-liter V12 pumping out said 700hp from the name with 680Nm of torque going to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission capable of swapping cogs at a mere 50-miliseconds.
It will hit the century mark in under three seconds and will top out at 350km/h. The body features ultra-light weight carbon fiber construction with an F1-style rear suspension. Due to the massive carbon fiber used in the construction of the body, the LP700-4 will tip the scales just a shade under 230kg lighter than the Murcielago.
Of course, we’ll all be waiting for some sort of confirmation from Sant’Agata before going apeshit on this news. If the news from the grapevines are to be believed, the LP700-4 is set for a Geneva debut that should be around March 2011. If that’s the case, expect some official news to begin trickling out in the coming months.
