The new Maserati Levante made introduction in Malaysia just hours ago when Naza Italia, official importer and distributor of Maserati in the country revealed the much-awaited, first ever Maserati SUV in a media preview event.

The reveal also made Malaysia the first country in South East Asia for the Levante to make its appearance in this region after its world debut in Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

The Levante signifies a new milestone in Maserati's more than 100-year history, as it embarks into a new phase. Since SUV occupies nearly half of the global passenger vehicle market today, the introduction of Levante is the perfect timing for Maserati to venture the uncharted territory, as well as providing a formidable alternative in the segment.

Named after the warm Mediterranean wind, the Levante carries a character in which it can transform from a calm breeze to a fierce creature in no time, effortlessly like the sweeping fresh air.

Maserati Levante

Engine:
3.0-litre twin-turbo V6
Power: Levante: 345hp; Levante S: 424hp
Torque: Levante: 500Nm; Levante S: 580Nm
Transmissions: ZF 8-speed automatic
Dimensions: 5,003mm (L), 1,968mm (W), 1,679mm (H)
Weight from: 2,109 kg
Price: To be confirmed

Exterior

The Levante features a traditional Maserati front fascia - a large grille with vertical fins and a trident logo. Its rear end is complemented by the familiar inverted-triangle-shaped tail-lights from the GranTurismo sports coupe.

According to Maserati, the Levante is not an SUV, but 'a Maserati'. With those quad-exhausts, 19-inch wheels, frameless doors and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, we couldn't agree more.

Interior

The Levante's interior receives familiar arrangement as found on the Ghibli sedan, from the three-spoke steering to the centre console with touchscreen infotainment system. Seats and lower part of the dashboard are upholstered with the same beige-like leather, while the dashboard's upper part gets dark-coloured leather with wooden trims.

Engine

Globally, the Levante comes in two forms, namely the Levante and a more powerful Levante S. Propelled by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 and coupled to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, power output however differentiates the two. The Levante will be capable of 345hp and 500Nm of torque while the Levante S makes 424hp and 580Nm of torque.

The Public can now head over to Naza Italia's showroom in Petaling Jaya to view the Levante in flesh, and is now available for bookings.
