How to get fluttering sound for turbos?

Like that Supra and R33 from dont-know-what-japanese-racing-movie. Just curious... somesort of wastegate? :)

ahhh...BOV not fully open yet..so the air will flow back to the turbo and out from ur power flow....that cause the sound....
the movie is "saw tu ko" in chinese, in english i think it shi***** Trial (donno how to spell the japanese road name :P )

let the air run back to the turbo u'll get this sound ;)

u can have pish pish so kenot have fluttering sound!!!
remove your stock BOV and seal it... then u hear fluttering sound :D

I think u get that fluttering sound if your engine is not warmed up. The BOV will not open fully and hence the fluttering. In my previous car, when u go off in the morning, try sounding your BOV...u will get this sound in your first few let-offs. but i have to admit it was kind of cool...almost like a SSQV. by the way, i used a CROSS BOV.

you'll get that fluttering sound if your blow off is very tight.

The sound is your Turbine wheel spinning backwards, nothing to do with wastegate.

:lol: ohhh..btw if one turbo/ic hoses is leaking then u will also get this type of sound no matter how high u boost....hahaha....

if u really wan to try, then loosen the pipe that are connected to ur turbo n let it leak, then everyday u will hear this sound. No more BOV sound,... :P

I dont drive a turbocharged car, but hopefully one day I can la... :D

So that means having the fluttering sound is bad for the turbo, especially with the turbine spinning backwards... the exhaust turbine and exhaust pressure sure gila?
Aiyoh I liked that noise alot, heard it from a wira once also. No wastegate or BOV can produce this kind of noise ah? :P

ahh.. i know what u mean already... u can get the fluttering or fartering sound with most turbo charged cars ler... hehe.. here is how to do it..


get the car in motion normally..say in the 3rd gear at 45km/h... den shift to 4th gear.. press the gas pedal half-way until u see the boost coming.. but before it reach peak boost..say 50% before peak boost release ur gas pedal again.(anyway ur car won't have the rush feeling coz u are at high gears at low speed) u should hear the BOV farting low pressure gas ... repeat a few times...with some practise, u should get the desired sound.. just like the japanese racing movie.. :lol:

ahhhh...my car will give this type of sound when i released or changed gear when the boost meter reach 0 bar or 0.2 bar.....quite nice..... :P but don do it too often la...afterward turbo fin all terbalik ..hehehe (some ppl sez will damage the turbo in a long term) :rolleyes:

Hmmm my friends car cannot ler... He's using an Apexi BOV I think, with the tightness dunno put loose or something.

Hopefully one day I can go fluttering around la. Now saving money :)
Each to his own I guess, but I think the fluttering sounds very nice... hardly like a bird at all, more like darth vader.
