Honda already has a presence at Le Mans in the form of their Acura ARX-02 prototype cars that tangle it up with Audi and Peugeot in the top LMP class but this time around, the prototype cars will be joined by the Honda Performance Development CR-Z at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Although the nimble CR-Z won’t be running the whole race, it will be putting down some exhibition laps before the race kicks off. The Honda Performance Development CR-Z currently earns its living as the pace car for the Speed EuroSeries. It has however run a full endurance race at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, where it performed flawlessly to finish second in its class.

The CR-Z has been full race prepped with its interior fully stripped down and power bumped up to 200hp and 272Nm of torque. All that power is channeled to the front wheels via six-speed manual gearbox with some hlp from the 7kW Li-ion battery pack in the rear.
