While the horrific footage of a high-speed Ferrari 599 GTO crash is pretty much fresh in our minds, it seems that some would just not take it down as a stern reminder that going against the red lights is very dangerous; not only to themselves, but also to the other innocent, law-abiding road users. And this clip right here somehow proves two points to be true, that (1) going against the red lights is dangerous, and (2) the Rochor road junction is really an accident-prone area.

Another Rochor Road Accident Just Days after the Ferrari Accident - YouTube

<a href="//www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pic12.jpg"><img title="pic12" src="//www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pic12.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="288" /></a>

Not long after a GTO crashed into a taxi at this junction, another accident occurred at the exact location with exactly the same way; going against the red light. As seen in the video, the speeding Lexus was seen beating the red lights and goes crashing into the rear of a taxi, sending the taxi into a spin. The Lexus was reported to hit two more cars before finally coming to a halt.

<a href="//www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pic10.jpg"><img title="pic10" src="//www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pic10.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="482" /></a>

Luckily though, there were no deaths in this crash. The taxi driver was unharmed in the crash, but his 30-year-old passenger was sent to the hospital for treatment, which he has been discharged not long after. The driver of the Lexus, a 30-year-old male was arrested on the scene for drunk driving.

<a href="//www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pic9.jpg"><img title="pic9" src="//www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/pic9.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="498" /></a>

If convicted, the driver could face a fine between $1,000 to $5,000 or jail time up to six months, and also be disqualified from driving for at least a year. And if he is a repeat offender, he could face a fine up to $30,000 and a maximum time of three years behind bars.

Some people just never learn, don't they??
No amount of advance driving training will have prevented this accident as long as the driver is wasted..

just as i thought..there is something wrong with that junction..

There is nothing wrong with the junction.

It's all about the driver in the Lexus. Why?

Without the driver (and his stupid attitude), the LEXUS will be absolutely harmless. It's the driver that controlled the car. The car has NO mind of its own.

So, when shit accident happens, many ppl always says and blames "I lost controlled of the car", etc.

You know what I say??
Who is DRIVING the car? You or the car itself?

They should put up a much heavier fine than what they set now.. the current fine is too cheap for those rich ppl in Singapore... by the way... just now I watch the video of the Ferrari accident n this Lexus accident, I notice that the left side traffic light is different when it come to green light for the taxi to move. The Ferrari video shows green but the Lexus video shows red... I think not only the driver is having problem the junction is also having problem.

Yep, let me highlight again what the 599 threadstarter mentioned:

The aftermath of the crash has resulted in the deaths of three persons at the wee hours of last Saturday, taking place at the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street at 4.15 am. Reports are saying that the spot is known for being an accident-prone area.
When I watch the two videos, I noticed:

1. There are two traffic lights located very near to the building at top left of video frame.
2. There are high rise buildings in the vicinity.

In the area where I live, I noticed some drivers waited patiently at the traffic lights, only to then ran the red light. This is something weird, until I notice that when they ran the red light, another traffic light just turned green in front, however:

1. That green light (Light B) was meant for cars coming from the right.
2. The car who ran the red light should have waited for ANOTHER traffic light (Light A) to turn green: that light is located on the left hand side.
3. So in total, to NOT beat the red light, the car need to wait for TWO lights (Lights A & B) to turn green.

What the road planners should consider:
1. Human beings have eyes facing forward, unlike birds.
2. Human beings have naturally weak peripheral vision, unlike birds.
3. Therefore, it is natural for human beings to see forward (this was my excuse last time when I usyar aweks in LRT).
4. Light A should be placed at somewhere prominent (front of waiting cars, not beside a building, etc.) and more importantly, Light B should be placed at ANYWHERE LESS prominent than Light A.
5. Otherwise human beings will only focus on Light B and in high speed = KABOOM.

The Rochor Road Pt.I and Pt.II.

the victims are TAXIS.
the villains are EXPENSIVE CARS.

btw, i'm totally disagree with blaming 100% on the driver for any accident. it is a very narrow-minded allegation.True, the car would not move unless u drive it. But shit still happens even u r not drunk. When that shit happens, look from another aspect - the condition of the road and its surrounding. Do u agree if i say a single pot-hole in the middle of the road can cause a tragic accident? Even a branch of leaves blocking the traffic light may cause an accident, let alone these drunk drivers of Rochor Rd incidents.

I am not on the side of the drunk drivers, really. But it is easy to blame the driver instead of other factors that contribute.

So, I am with the guy that said "Something wrong with the road".

not a problem if you're driving a lexus right? hire a driver! and go Malaysia to drive!
hardly a suitable punishment as a drunk driver on the wheel is a bomb waiting to go off. if the car plummeted into a busy shopping mall guess how many people will die?

if you're referring to THIS CASE. drunk driving is wrong, period. don't push the blame to the road. the fact that you're on the wheel while drunk is sufficient case to hang you.

I've got a friend working in Singapore and his GM got his license suspended for 2 years as he was drunk driving, so in this case i believe the punishment would be harsher. My friend's GM now has to take taxi/MRT to work, BMW park at home for display purposes, huhuhu

BIG problem if you are a driving enthusiast like me.
a real driving enthusiasts like you WILL NOT drive while intoxicated with alcohol. correct? so that idiot is NOT a driving enthusiast. a driving enthusiast will be responsible, and will remember safety comes first.

those who do not, are not driving enthusiasts, just idiots who think they own the road.
