What's the deal?
The all-new Toyota Vellfire has been unveiled by UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) recently. In its 2nd generation now, the Vellfire however is offered by the official distributor for the first time in Malaysia.
The Vellfire is a household name here and is widely available from other parallel sources, but the units imported and distributed by UMWT are tripocalized and received crucial tweaks to resolve issues such as high speed driving requirements and Malaysia's hot climate.
The Vellfire is available in sole 2.5 offering, with four colours to choose from - White Pearl CS., Silver Metallic, Black and a newly-developed Burning Black CS. GF.

Exterior
'Bold and Fearless' is the philosophy behind Vellfire's design, thus the mean faced front fascia. Fitted with full LED headlights with eyebrow-like DRLs, the headlights on the Vellfire is another testament of its character.
As for the side view, the Vellfire features a Z-shaped chrome ornamentation, which highlights the dynamism in its design. The Vellfire also receives blacked-out quarter pillar that gives the effect of a 'floating roof'.
Similar to the Alphard, its power wing mirrors are now door-mounted as opposed to pillar-mounted on previous generation.
Just like the front end, the rear of the Vellfire is also styled to compliment the bold look, with large LED tail lights sandwiches thick central chrome bar.
Interior
The Vellfire's interior concept of 'Avant Gorgeous' brings excellent workmanship into the cabin. Featuring black woodgrain finish, matched with metallic ornamentation, the Vellfire retains the exclusive image of the vehicle.
The optitron meter combination consists of 3-dimensional meter rings flanking the 4.2-inch colour TFT Multi-Information Display (MID) unit.

Powering the all-new Vellfire is a proven 2.5-litre Dual VVT-i 2AR-FE 4-cylinder, good for 176hp and 235Nm of torque. The Vellfire, also benefitting from electric motor steering system (EPS) which helps in contributing to fuel economy as the EPS does not draw any power from the engine during operation.
Transmission is a 7-speed continuously-variable transmission (CVT) that is designed for seamless acceleration, apart from optimizing the power from the engine and handling the loads that an MPV would normally carry.
Chassis
The Vellfire is constructed using super rigid high-tensile steel without having to add additional weight. Torsional rigidity of the floor is also improved with usage of the specially-developed steel.
To cater to load capability and maintaining ride comfort, the Vellfire features independent McPherson struts at the front and anti roll bar plus new double wishbone units at the rear.
Safety
The front is engineered to absorb greater amount of collision energy. The structure at the front is cleverly designed to effectively disperse collision energy before it reaches the cabin area, thus reducing the effects on occupants.
The sides of the vehicle also get hot-stamped structural members and high tensile strength sheet steel to provide good resistance to side impacts.
The Vellfire is also equipped with 3-point seatblets for all occupants and ISOFIX for compatible childseats to be secured. Active safety features include ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Brake Hold and Hill-Start Assist Control.
Security
The all-new Vellfire is guarded by an engine immobiliser, back-up battery with siren and a sensor that detects when window glass is broken. Toyota Premium Security & Solar Film window tint are also offered on the Vellfire.
As with all UMW Toyota models, the all-new Vellfire comes with a 5-years warranty with unlimited mileage, and 10 years Toyota Genuine Parts guaranteed availability.
