The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was more than just a sports car; it was a machine that marked the start of an era for the Japanese brand. Conquering rally stages all over the world and making a name at events like time attack, the Lancer Evolution was adored by the automotive community. So it is not a surprise when Mitsubishi decided to pull the plug for the Evo, some of us are deeply saddened.
But Mitsubishi was not going to let the Evo go without a last hurrah as they recently announced the last batch of the Evo’s tenth generation. Dubbed as the ‘Final Edition’, this final Evo will be limited to only 1,600 units.
The car will be built on the lower GSR trim, where the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine pushes out 303-horsepower at 6,500rpm and 305 lb-ft of torque at 4,000rpm. The power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a sport-tuned version of Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) four-wheel drive system.
Keeping the Evo at bay are Brembo’s two-piece rotors up front while the Eibach springs and Bilstein shock absorbers provides confidence to the driver to push the Final Edition to its limits. While Mitsubishi has yet to release a full spec of the car, we reckon this Final Edition will do a zerotohundred faster than the regular 291-hp Evo X’s sub five-second run.
