Honestly speaking, we are getting a bit tired with ‘special editions’ that merely adds some badges and some extra pinstripes to make it special. Luckily the new S8 Plus Audi recently revealed has nothing to do with these ‘special’ touches as this is not the sedan you would like to mess around with.
Instead of focusing on the aesthetics, Audi immediately put their focus to the internals of the 4.0-liter TFSI engine and fiddled around with it until it becomes a fearsome beast. The engine has been given a new control unit with speed and charge pressure boosting added to its modified exhaust valves and the inner geometry of the turbochargers.
With the mods in place, this S8 now rolls with 605-horsepower and 700Nm of torque and rises to 750Nm in overboost. The result of this power rise allows the S8 Plus to do a zerotohundred in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 305km/h.
“We have further sharpened our large sport sedan. The new Audi S8 Plus has a substantial gain in power and defines the pinnacle of sporty performance in the segment. That is why ‘Plus’ appears in its name,” said Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical Development at Audi AG.
