Air box good ? or hks suction kits good?

i believe both of it are the same...as they are doing the same job as higher air flow into engine...

Apexi offer the cleanest filtration while still allowing a good flow of air in to the the engine. I think it's personal preference. If you go for a less restrictive air filter, but doesn't filter the dust from the air as much, just make sure you change your oil regularly. Just my opinion though...

But the results are from 10 years+ ago, and HKS has revised their sponge few times and alot of imitation apexi in the market

Get a K&n or stock air box filter more good !!
I'm using Trust Air filter...but always suck hot air !!
If using open port filter , better make a aluminium heat shield for it ~

My Vote go to Air Box.

I think car should deserve cold air from outside.

Yes, seems to be the reason why quite a few people are buying up the ARC air boxes. It also looks HOT (to quote Paris Hilton).

The only trouble is it doesn't seem to fit with hardpipe kits.

That 's true. It's a very old test. Even so, I don't think there will be such a drastic improvement for the HKS sponges. It faired the worst in that test. Even with the improvements, I doubt it will be better than the apexi. That being said, I am still using the HKS pods. Came with the hard pipe kit so why waste it. =P
Yeah, there are many many imitation products in the market nowdays. There's this 'paria' company using Mine's name on their products. WTF! :thefinger:

Yup. Not to mention if you change your bonnet, occasionally there will be some fitment issues.

am using the HKS suction kit. too bad that its hard to find a genuine hks sponge though :banghead:

The HKS sponge is good, but make sure you get the 3-layer dry type for our dusty environment, and beware, it's only available in green. Used to have a 2-layer wet type and left lots of chips on my compressor blades.

i use the k&n imititation..after use it, feel lots of difference in response and pickup and also the grunt :top:.. if u want to use the original airbox, use drop in airfilters and custom made CAI into your airbox.. fresh air direct to your airbox are better

Has anyone tried AEM filters?

http://www.aemintakes.com/dryflow_air_filters.htm

using it
err no idea since i one shot all change so no idea got improvement or not la
but washable la

i think the points put forward at 'the clipping point' makes the desicion very easy. cone suctions are much better than mushroom heads. apexi seems to be the best with k & n coming in close at second.
