When you think of modern superfast wagons – you look no where else but the folks at Audi who has spent its last couple of years building unboundedly lustful Superwagons. With a known character for smoking Porsche 911s at the lights and still be able to carry a family of 4; Audi RS celebrates its 20th anniversary this year marking its spot on the market as a full grown brand.
In commemoration of its anniversary; they have just unveiled a special edition model ahead of its launch at Geneva Motor Show next month dubbed the Audi RS4 Nogaro selection. Going nostalgic back to two decades ago – the badge first began life as a project developed between Porsche and Audi; and the end product resulted to one sleeper wagon known as the Audi RS2.
The RS2 set pace to future models in the RS-family and 2 decades later; the family has grown to 7 in the line of superfast; family oriented cars that set to relive the bread winner’s days as a boy racer. The entry level Avant wagon in the RS family now is the RS4 B8.5 – packing a 4.2-litre V8 engine that produces a whopping 450bhp and 430nm. With a Zerotohundred time of 4.7 seconds and a limited top speed of 178mph; it is certainly a family car that should be messed with.
So the Nogaro selection presents a trim available exclusively to this special edition only. On the exterior; this special edition comes with an exclusive Nogaro blue pearl-effect paint first seen on the RS2; matched with grilles and trims single-coated in gloss black to match the aggressive styling rather than the more usual chrome. Even the exhaust tips were coated to match the special edition’s styling.
On the interior – the Nogaro special edition features a two-tone; black Valcona leather with Nogaro blue Alcantara centre sections to match the exterior. At the same time; the RS gear selector has been engraved with ‘Nogaro Selection’ engraved to mark this anniversary model.
Sadly; performance will remain similar to the standard version but 450bhp on taps is no slouch. No word has been said on the production numbers of the Nogaro Selection; however price has been set at 87,300 Euros a pop and will go on sale as early as mid next month in Europe.
