Rendering: Nissan GT-R 4-Door Coupe

carscoop-gtrFollowing earlier speculations of a GT-R based Infiniti sports sedan, Japanese magazine Best Car is now reporting in its latest issue that Nissan is also working on a 4door-coupe variant of its legendary GT-R.

The four-doored GT-R would supposedly use a stretched version of the coupe’s FM platform along with all the mechanical hardware including the 480HP twin turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine, the sophisticated all wheel-drive and the dual clutch semi-auto transmission.

The computer rendering you see above gives a pretty good idea of what the GT-R sports sedan would look like if Nissan were to actually produce such a model. This is not the first time we’ve heard rumors about Nissan considering the possibility of developing an BMW M5 rival off the new GT-R, and it certainly won’t be the last.

But unless some sort of hard evidence emerges in the form of let’s say scoop pictures of a prototype test model, a four-door GT-R will remain nothing more than a rumor.

Well i hope at least NISSAN Japan make their executive model , such as Cefiro , to rival against M5 , developed a new tagline for Cefiro :) ... It would be more appropriate ... Why rival a GTR that was supposed to be a street monster against M5 that looks so elegant, classy and as well as comfortable ...

If nissan makes it. It is seriously eating their own market. The Skyline will be officially DEAD if the GTR comes in 4 door version.

ya its kinda of cool to join the ranks of bmw m5's , audi's rs4 ?... and others. but

maybe they could throw away the rear spoiler or install a ducktail..

at least it could be more refined .. more classy, big dish rims .. etc..

Hey, they are sure they can cash in on the 4 door once they milked out the 2 door GTR. Also somehow Nissan is selling the GTR at a loss. Somehow i think its linked to the very expensive gearbox. And not forgetting the (secret) lotus handling. Which i think commands quite a sum for their expertise, and also Polyphony for designing the electronic interface. With these few details, it made the GTR an almost perfect supercar. It is really a video game car to reality. It will be sometime before something like it comes again.

You can't blame Lambo for 4 door supercars. Lambo did have an old 2+2 last time. So does Ferrari. But then none of them want to commit to building a 4 door car. But Maserati does. And the future of all conti sedans might look like the Jaguar XF.
