MV Agusta Rivale 800 – Revealed Ahead of EICMA

The EICMA show is about to take place next week and here’s MV Agusta allowing us all a proper look at their Rivale 800 that shares its 798cc motor with the Brutale 800, which is MV Agusta’s idea of what a hypermotard should look like.

There was an initial glimpse of the Rivale’s rear three-quarter end that seemed to have taken some design cues from Ducati’s Diavel. However, the Rivale happens to tip the scales at around 170kg while cranking out 123bhp.

MV Agusta is hoping that their Rivale will be able to go head-to-head with Ducati’s soon-to-be-released water-cooled Hypermotard 848. Although the rear-end seems rather similar to the Diavel, the front-end is entirely and thankfully different and has been blessed with MV Agusta’s MVICS electronics package that features an 8-way adjustable traction control system, ride-by-wire, three engine maps as well as whole load of bells and whistles.

Word is, the Rivale will be available by the middle of 2013, but we can’t seem to wait and see what Ducati’s Hypermotard 848 will officially look like and by the time that happens, we should know which commands more drool to flow than the other.
