Spied: Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series Hanging Out With Next Generation Pagani Zonda

spy_shot_sl_65_black_pagani_zondaThe guys at Fast Lane Daily caught the 2009 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG Black Series hanging out with the next generation Pagani Zonda in the mountainous regions of Colorado, USA. Both cars were apparently undergoing high-altitude testing. So why would you have two supercars who are rivals at their own game testing together?

Word has it that the next generation Pagani Zonda F will share the same engine as the new SL65 AMG Black Series. The Mercedes is powered by a 6 liter twin-turbo V12 that produces a whopping 661hp with peak torque at a stonking 738lb-ft and when that same powerplant lands in the lightweight Zonda, it will be able to complete the century sprint in the lower regions of 3 seconds and it won’t stop till it’s well past the 200mph mark.

Previous reports said that the current AMG supplied 7.3 liter V12 that produces 641-hp was going to be replaced by the 680-hp 5.4 liter V8 from the McLaren SLR but that doesn’t appear to be so as the car-building relationship between Mclaren and Mercedes have come to an end. This makes sourcing Mercedes built Mclaren engines to other automakers that much more difficult.

The next two years are shaping out to be some of the most horsepower induced in recent times as these are not the only two cars to arrive with insane figures under their hoods. Watch this space for more horsepower tales.
