Singapore, 7 May 2010 – Having kicked off his 2010 kart racing season with the opening round of the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Malaysia Championship in early March, James Pull returns to Sepang this weekend for Round 2 of the Championship.
Currently in overall third place for the championship, the 10-year-old Singapore-based karter was one of 23 young talents in the MicroMax category who drove the Sepang track anticlockwise for the first time. Having qualified in second for the final, Pull eventually finished in overall third place and is looking to improve on his championship position this weekend.
Pull, who is of Eurasian heritage as his father is English and his mother is Malaysian, said, “My first race for this year was at Round 1 of the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia Championship. Since then I have raced at two rounds of the Yamaha SL Cup and also at the opening round of the Nescafe Singapore Karting Championship.”
“Having had some good races this year, I feel more confident going into this weekend and I’m looking forward to a good race,” the Tanglin Trust School student added.
Only into his second year of racing, the RMC Malaysia Championship holds a special place in Pull’s heart as his first ever go-kart race was Round 1 of the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia 2009.
Born in Singapore at Mount Elizabeth Hospital but of English nationality, Pull first tried go-karting at the now-defunct Kart World in September 2008 at the age of eight. After just three months of leisure karting, Pull progressed to competitive karting and even won the 2009 KKS AAM Malaysian Karting Championship (Formula C) in his debut year of racing.
This year, Pull is racing in the 2010 Yamaha SL Cup Malaysia where he is currently holding a joint championship lead. He was the only driver to score a double win at round one of the 2010 Yamaha SL Cup when he came in first for both races.
Pull also raced at Round 1 of the Nescafe Singapore Karting Championship and will be racing in the Asian Karting Open Championship when it starts in July.
