Hi all...

I'm looking for a car to buy... my budget is around 100k. I'm in sales and marketing background. Everyday I will use the

car heavily to get from point A to point B, meeting clients, sometimes have to cover 5-6 different areas in one day

(KL-Cyberjaya/Putrajaya-Ampang-Shah Alam) like that. So, fuel efficiency and car reliability, comfort and safety is my

priority. This is going to be the only car I own. I'm a 29 years old woman by the way, and not married yet. Please kindly

advise which car will suits my lifestyle. Thank you.

Japanese? Korean, Conti? Malaysian, Other makes?
Used, recon or new car?
2 door, 4 door, etc?
Sedan, coupe, SUV, MPV, etc
Petrol, diesel, hybrid?

I might be good if you could narrow down to a couple of models, to start off with.

K3 or Vios for a start. I currently using K3 predecessor. Very reliable, fuel efficiency is reasonable around 10L per 100km.

By publicly announcing you're a young lady, be prepared for all those wolves to come out from hiding

Anyway, what sort of sales do you do? Do you need to show 'face' with the car or do you just need it to be reliable and all?

If it's a simple car that gets you from point A to B in relative comfort and safety, then I'd say you should consider cars like Mitsubishi Attrage, Toyota Vios, Honda City, Kia Cerato, Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta, Perodua Axia, Proton Iriz.

However if you are talking about fuel economy the Attrage, Vios, Axia, Iriz and Mazda 2 win hands down and if I had to choose between this lot, I'd go for the Mazda 2.

If you're talking about safety as well, then that narrows it down to Mazda 2 or Attrage (top spec only, not the basic one). Protons unfortunately are not very well known to have reliable parts so I don't dare recommend it even though it does seemingly have all the right features.

Resale value only the Toyota wins. Kia would be the worst. Mazda 2 is too new to have a resale value.

Basically, personally if I had to recommend a 29 year old sales lady a car - I'd ask her to consider the Mazda 2. Comfortable, good looking, high safety standards, from a reputable car company, good fuel economy and if you buy it in red, it's the perfect ladies car. Also compared to the competition, it looks more classy for sales deals.

Because the car is shit. Shit in safety, shit to drive and shit overall.
But for me, the comfort and nvh level is better than the latest Vios. Seems to hear less road and wind noise and the car feels less bumpy.

Worst than Myvi?

For lady, I'd recommend brand new cars from Honda. The City or Jazz is a good pick. Mazda, while the car is good, I am not sure the after sales services and parts availability is on par with Honda and Toyota.

As for the resale value point, whatever car you buy, it's a liability and depreciating. Honda is doing better these days, except for the Civic.

That bad for the N car?
Last time I did a ZTH writeup on the new City, we were given a few cars as comparison. Almera, Polo Sedan, Vios and the City. The City was the best in everything. Almera was the worst. Only thing it's good for is the size. Lots of rear legroom and big boot.

NVH ok la.. it's good but it's way to wishy washy.

Considering I didn't list the Myvi as one of the options - doesn't really matter.

The Jazz is weird. The top spec has stupidly stiff suspension and the lowest one doesn't. The top spec has shit loads of things and the lowest one has nothing. I wouldn't recommend the jazz just because of the stupidly hard back-breaking suspension. The worse thing is it still has body roll like any everyday car.

I agree with both Izso & Ixeo, I'd suggest Japanese cars, either the new Honda City or the Mazda 2. TS should test drive these 2 then decide which one she likes better.

in addition to the feedback and suggestions, do head down to the showrooms and ask for some test drives. Nothing comes close to the actual driving experience by yourself.

Peugeot 208. It looks good. Fuel efficient too.

I highly recommend it. Full fledged equipment. Comfortable. Less than 100k for a continental car. Is a bien (good in french) car.
