If you think Volvo cars aren’t exciting enough for you and if you didn't already know, well the cars can now be upgraded with a host of sporty bits. Volvo Cars Malaysia has made available the Polestar Performance Optimization programme for the V40 T5, XC60 T5 and T6, and S60 T6.

Polestar is the official performance division for Volvo Cars, along with Polestar racing team and prototypes.

The customization programme consists of 5 different aspects that can be upgraded; chassis, wheels, intake and exhaust, interior and exterior, and engine optimization.

1) Chassis
– new shock absorbers, coil springs, and front strut bar (S60 only)
2) Wheels – 19-inch lightweight wheels (V40 and S60), 21-inch wheels (XC60 only), Bridgestone Potenza (S60) and Pirelli P Zero (XC60 and V40)
3) Intake and exhaust – stainless steel exhaust system, along with sports air filter, new air box, and a rear diffuser
4) Interior and exterior – new door sills, rear spoiler, black side mirrors, sports pedals, sports seats, new gear knob, lower door decor (S60), lower door panel (XC60) and boot handle (XC60).
5) Engine Optimization – alters and improves 5 parameters of the car – throttle response, gearshift speed, gearshift precision and gear hold, off-throttle response, engine performance – to ‘provide a completely new driving experience for your Volvo’.

With the optimization package, it bumps up the engine output figures of the cars as listed below:

  • V40 T5 – 245hp and 350Nm to 253hp and 400Nm
  • XC60 T5 – 245hp and 350Nm to 253hp and 400Nm; XC60 T6 – 264hp and 400Nm to 310hp and 430Nm
  • S60 T6 – 306hp and 400Nm to 310hp and 430Nm
The Polestar performance enhancement packages will be available at Volvo showrooms nationwide from Nov 1, 2016 onwards. For more information, visit http://www.volvocars.com/my.
