Completing the Jaguar sedan car range after the XF and XJ, Jaguar Land Rover (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd today introduces the new Jaguar XE sports sedan into the Malaysian market. The new XE is the smallest, lightest and stiffest Jaguar sedan and it is also packed with an array of ground breaking features.
“Its lightweight construction, streamlined styling, luxurious interior and outstanding ride and handling make it a true driver’s car. In the XE, Jaguar has come up with a winner that is definitely a serious contender in the mid-size luxury sedan segment,” said JLRM managing director Tuan Syed Mudzhar Syed Ali.
The new XE will come in three variants – the Prestige, R-Sport, and S. The Prestige will be powered by a 2.0-liter 200PS 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine while the R-Sport has the same engine but with a higher output of 240PS. The flagship S however is equipped with a more potent 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine pushing out 340PS. All three variants come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The rear-wheel drive XE is the only vehicle in its class to use an aluminium-intensive monocoque which is extremely robust yet light structure. It has a 2,835mm wheelbase and a low seating position, enabling perfect proportions and a streamlined profile. And with a drag coefficient of 0.26, the new XE is the most aerodynamic Jaguar ever and one of the best in its class.
It also comes with a new feature from Jaguar called the JaguarDrive Control, allowing the driver to select Normal, Eco, Dynamic or Winter modes, subtly changing the steering and throttle mapping. The XE is fitted with Torque Vectoring by braking for a more neutral handling, reduced steering effort and a more rewarding driving experience.
The next generation Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) delivers immediate and precise response and the connected feeling expected of a Jaguar sports sedan. Offering outstanding levels of comfort and spaciousness, the XE’s cabin is finished in exquisite materials and the rear seats can comfortably accommodate three adults. The 455-litre boot offers plenty of luggage space, and even more when the rear seats are folded down.
As for the audio system, one can either settle with the Jaguar Sound System or an optional higher spec 380W Meridian Sound System, designed in conjunction with British audio experts Meridian specifically for the XE.
The new Jaguar XE’s price will start at RM 340,000 for the Prestige and RM 365,000 for the R-Sport. As for the top-of-the-line supercharged XE S, it will cost you RM 580,000. (Prices include GST but exclude registration, road tax and insurance). Jaguar is determined to give their customers a premium ownership experience, so every XE comes with a five-year or 150,000km warranty and three-year roadside assist.
Every new XE also comes with an exclusive accessories package worth RM 10,000 which includes illuminated side tread plates for the front, steering wheel-mounted gear shift paddles, specially-designed gear selector with premium dark leather top and rubber bezel with soft-touch grip, and unique tyre valve caps with a choice of four iconic designs.
