The all-new BMW M2 Coupe zooms into Malaysia, priced at RM500K!

After its unveiling back in October last year, the anticipated successor to the 1M is finally here in Malaysia. It sure is nice in pictures, but nothing beats seeing the all-new BMW M2 Coupe in the flesh here at the BMW Malaysia Open 2016 taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

There are plenty of juicy details regarding the new BMW M2, but we will jump into the best part right away, the engine.

Underneath the hood lies a 3.0-liter twin-scroll single turbo straight six-cylinder engine that produces 365 Bavarian horses at 6,500rpm and has a peak torque of 343 lb-ft between 1,400 – 5,560rpm.

The M2 also feature a temporary overboost function that raises torque figures by 26 lb-ft to give it a total of 369 lb-ft.

The M2 Coupe is fitted with a six-speed manual transmission enabling the car to sprint from zerotohundred in 4.5 seconds.

But if manual shifting is not your thing, fret not as BMW also offer a seven-speed dual-clutch DCT transmission that churns an even quicker zerotohundred sprint of 4.3 seconds.

Featuring Comfort, Sport and Sport+ driving modes, launch control and BMW’s Smoky Burnout function, both transmissions however share the same top speed of 250km/h.

Compared to the M235i, the new M2 Coupe has tracks that are 64mm wider at the front and 71mm at the rear for improved suspension geometry.

Lots of aluminium components were also used on the revised suspension which include MacPherson struts at the front and a five-link arrangement at the rear. BMW had also re-tuned the electrically power-assisted steering system as well as adding an Active M Differential to the rear axle.

Bringing the M2 Coupe to a halt are a pair of four-piston fixed calipers with 380mm discs at the front and two-piston fixed calipers with 370mm discs at the rear. The 19-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels gets a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 245/35 ZR19 at the front and 265/35 ZR19 at the rear.
