This upcoming Isle of Man TT is going to be an interesting one as Subaru will once again attempt to set a new record around the 37.73-mile course. Once again turning to rally legend Mark Higgins for the task, he will be piloting a special Subaru WRX STI Time Attack car that was specially prepared by Subaru and Prodrive.

“We are excited to be back and running on the Isle of Man TT course. This is one of the most amazing road courses in the world and the Isle of Man TT is one of the most exciting races of the year. We have previously run the TT course in near-stock Subaru WRX STIs, but this year we set out to design the ultimate WRX STI for this circuit,” said Dominick Infante, National Manager of Product Communications, Subaru of America.

The new STI time attack machine is more serious than the stock WRX STI and the collaboration with Prodrive will definitely unleash the hidden potential of the car. Developed specifically to tackle the TT course, Subaru is keeping a tight lid on the specific technical details, but it sure is clear that the car has received a lot of upgrades in the aerodynamics department.

The time to beat here is Higgin’s own record back in 2014 where he averaged 117.5mph over the 37.73-mile course, crossing the finish line in 19 minutes and 15 seconds.
