It looks like we have another exotic marque joining in the SUV game as Maserati took the covers off from their new Levante. Scheduled to make a debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the leak images of the Levante in production guise has forced the brand to immediately show the new SUV to the public via Twitter.

If some of you might remember, Maserati did preview an SUV concept back in the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show called the Kubang. The Levante however adopts a different styling concept as it features a bolder version of Maserati’s corporate grille, cat’s eye headlights, larger lower air intake, and those iconic portholes on the front fenders.

The Levante will adopt the rear-wheel drive architecture from the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, and Maserati had also confirmed that the Levante will be utilizing an electronically controlled suspension with adjustable dampers and air springs. As for the transmission, it will be using an eight-speed automatic that sends the power to all four wheels via Maserati’s Q4 all-wheel drive system.

There is no word on what will be powering the Levante, but some had speculated that it will be housing a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, and a Ferrari-sourced 3.8-liter V8 might just be one of the options. A diesel variant might also be offered as well.
