Before they actually reveal it to the public at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar decided to share with the world their new and range-topping model in the sports car range. Dubbed as the SVR, this new model is available in both coupe and convertible and is more powerful than the F-Type V8 S and R variants.
The supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine has been fiddled with to produce 575PS or 567-horsepower and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Mated to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission, it sends power to all four wheels and will do a zerotohundred in just 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 320 km/h for the coupe and 313 km/h for the convertible.
The SVR is also lighter than the other models, thanks to their new exhaust system that is made out of titanium and Inconel. The new exhaust setup shaves off 16kg of weight, and the usage of lightweight materials makes the SVR 25kg lighter than an equivalent all-wheel drive F-Type R. If the checkboxes for the carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fiber roof are ticked, it is 50kg lighter.
Stopping power is provided by a set of 380mm front and 376mm rear discs clamped by six and four piston calipers at the front and rear respectively. Jaguar had also put their attention on the aero bits where the front bumper has been redesigned and now includes larger air intakes, a new splitter and front undertray. A new rear wing has been developed which will deploy at 96 km/h.
